The Batesville Area Arts Council’s Gallery on Main hosts solo and group exhibitions by local and visiting artists throughout the year. Exhibits include public receptions where attendees can meet the artists and learn more about their work.
Who Can Apply
Artists aged 18 and older working in 2D or 3D media may submit proposals for consideration by the Visual Arts Committee (comprised of art professionals).
How to Apply
- Submit a brief, typed proposal describing the work you plan to exhibit. Be specific about subject matter and media.
- You may include an artist statement and/or bio.
- Group exhibition proposals are welcome.
- A $10 non-refundable application fee is required.
Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis. Artists will be notified of acceptance and may be considered for group shows.
Exhibition Guidelines
- All accepted work must be professionally presented and gallery-ready (e.g., framed and wired for hanging).
- Work must be available for the full duration of the exhibition.
What the Gallery Provides
- Assistance with installation and de-installation
- Promotion via local media and social media
- Postcard design and distribution (when possible)
- Public reception with refreshments
- Sales opportunities (artists receive payment within 30 days of full payment)
What the Artist Provides
- 40% gallery commission on all sales
- Label details (title, media, date, price)
- High-resolution images (5" x 7", 300 dpi) for publicity
- Artist talk during the reception
Exhibition Policy
- Exhibitions run 6–8 weeks.
- All exhibited work must be for sale, original, and created within the last 5 years.
- Once a show ends, that work is no longer eligible to be re-exhibited at the Gallery on Main.
- Unsold work must be picked up within 30 days of the exhibition’s end.
Insurance
BAAC insures exhibited artwork against theft, fire, and natural disasters up to the policy limit. Artists should maintain a digital inventory of displayed works to support any potential claims.
