City of Pikeville's Nightmare on Main

Rules & Regulations

1.  There is no fee to participate. Registration forms must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026. The sale of any items is strictly prohibited.

2. Event load-in instructions will be emailed prior to the event. Please ensure that the email address provided during registration is accurate.

3. Electricity, tables, tents, etc. are NOT supplied for this event.  

4. Participants must provide the candy they distribute. Only commercially packaged, store-bought candy is permitted. Homemade treats are not allowed.

5.  We anticipate approximately 1,500 to 2,000 children will attend this year's event.

6. Limit of one piece of literature, tracts, coupons, or similar items per booth. These materials must be placed directly into a child's bag and may not be handed out separately.

7. Any non-candy giveaway items must be appropriate for children. Acceptable items include pencils, erasers, bookmarks, cups, and small toys. Items such as nail files, matchbooks, letter openers, or other potentially unsafe products are not permitted.

8. No activities or made on site treats are allowed, as this can create very long lines and hinder the flow of participants.  

9.  Costumes and decorated trunks, tables, and tents are strongly encouraged, but not required. A "Best Decorated" Contest will be held during the event.

10. In the event of questionable weather conditions, cancellation announcements will be made via email, Facebook, and local radio stations.

11. Please be respectful of neighboring participants and keep decorations and displays within your assigned space.

12.   All decorations and displays should be family-friendly and appropriate for children.

13. Please be mindful of children and families with food allergies. Participants should keep ingredient information or original product packaging available for all candy and treats being distributed to help answer allergy-related questions from parents and guardians.

14. Pets are not permitted within the event area during Nightmare on Main, with the exception of service animals as defined by law. This restriction is intended to help ensure the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of all participants, especially young children.
