We are proud to announce the new Westmeath Independent Community and Sports Awards 2026 in partnership with Westmeath County Council. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their support in this new initiative. These awards are designed to acknowledge the excellent work of individuals and groups in our community and also to highlight the achievement, dedication and success in the sporting arenas across our area. You can enter or nominate those you think are deserving of an award or if you are part of a group of people you feel have contributed to your community. Closing date midnight October 11th.

Social Inclusion Award (sponsored by Westmeath Co Co): An organisation (or perhaps a person) that does not have profit as its only goal; instead it seeks to maximise benefits to society and the environment. Do you know of a group or a person who would deserve this award? If you do, please enter a nomination today.
Group of the year: This award will go to a group who make a difference to their locality and the people who live there. If you would like to acknowledge a group who make a difference and enhance local lives, nominate them now and give them the accolade they deserve.
Volunteer of the Year: Volunteering is a role that can be unrecognised or under-recognised, but without the work of these exceptional people, our community groups and organisations would not functionIt might be a family member or someone else who goes beyond the call of duty – if you would like to see them receive public recognition for their efforts, nominate them today.
Choose a Category for Your Sport Awards Nominee:
Young Sports Star of the Year: The dedication and commitment of young sports people in this area is truly extraordinary and this award celebrates the great talent we have in our community of which we can be very proud. If you know of such a young sportsperson then nominate them for this award.
Outstanding Achievement of the Year: This award is to recognise a sportsperson or team who made a significant mark on the local sporting world - it could be a person (or a team) who enjoyed a major success, or raised the bar in their chosen field.
Hall of Fame: There are many great people in this area who have made an outstanding contribution to the community and have been leaders in giving people an opportunity to get involved in sport. Age does not matter for this category and if you know someone who may qualify, perhaps a volunteer who has made a big impact for many years, don’t hesitate to nominate them.
Team of the Year: This category is open to all clubs in the area and if you think your team has achieved something remarkable, regardless of the sport, you can tell us why they are deserving of such an award. It is open to all sports. These teams represent their club, school or community with distinction and deserve our recognition.
