    Eala Impacts CIC is a local social enterprise that wants people in Leith to have a say about our future heating and energy systems, how we tackle fuel poverty and reduce our emissions. We are gathering local people’s views via this survey as part of our Leith Energy Project. Your answers will be anonymised and handled confidentially.   • Scotland and the UK are moving towards cleaner, more sustainable ways to heat homes and buildings.

    One approach the Scottish Government is supporting is Heat Networks (also called District Heating), which bring heat from a central source or sources to homes and other buildings, through a network of underground pipes carrying hot water. This heats radiators in rooms and also provides hot water for taps and showers.

  • The City of Edinburgh Council is working with the Scottish Government's Heat Network Support Unit to investigate how heat networks could be built throughout the city. They could be built, owned and operated by private companies, the Council, a community-owned enterprise, or a combination of those options.
