2027 Local Government Leadership Program Application
In partnership with the New Mexico Municipal League and the New Mexico Association of Counties, the Local Government Leadership Program equips public officials at every level with the knowledge, connections, and practical skills to serve their communities with vision and impact. Open to municipal, county, and state officials, school board members, the National Guard, and regional councils of government, the program offers dynamic, real-world learning that helps participants navigate the complex challenges of local governance. Through engaging sessions, participants explore innovative solutions, build meaningful relationships, and strengthen collaboration across New Mexico. It’s about empowering leaders to create positive, lasting change where it matters most - right at home.
Instructions for Completing the Application:
Please complete all required fields in the application form, as incomplete applications will not be considered. You will be asked to provide information about your professional background, leadership experience, and community involvement. Applicants should be prepared to fully commit to all program sessions if selected. Selected applicants will be notified by email with next steps, including tuition, logistics, and important deadlines. All application materials must be submitted by November 13, 2026, and late submissions will not be accepted. We look forward to learning more about you and the perspective you would bring to the LGLP cohort.

Program Policies & Agreements
In this section, you will review and acknowledge the Local Government Leadership Program’s expectations, policies, and required commitments for participation.
If accepted into the Local Government Leadership Program, the participant, financial sponsor, and/or employer will be billed for the tuition fee of $750, which includes all program costs, materials, meals, and transportation during sessions. Participants are responsible for lodging and transportation costs to and from sessions. Who will pay for your tuition?

I understand that, if selected to participate in the Leadership New Mexico Local Government Leadership Program (LGLP), I am expected to attend and fully participate in both required program sessions: the Opening Session and the Final Session, which includes the LGLP graduation ceremony. I understand that attendance at both sessions is mandatory and that I am expected to participate fully in all scheduled activities and programming during each session.

I understand that if I miss any portion of either required session, for any reason, I will be automatically withdrawn from the Local Government Leadership Program and no portion of my tuition will be refunded.

By signing below, I confirm that I have the approval, full support, and commitment of my employer to participate in the Leadership New Mexico Local Government Leadership Program (LGLP). This commitment includes providing the necessary time away from work to attend and fully engage in all scheduled program sessions and required program activities. I further confirm that my employer is aware of and agrees to the following tuition and participation terms: Tuition is non-refundable once paid by the employer. Once my organization has paid tuition for my participation in LGLP, the tuition will not be refunded for any reason. This non-refundable policy applies regardless of my employment status with the organization. If I am suspended, terminated, laid off, resign from my position, change positions, or otherwise separate from my organization after tuition has been paid, the tuition will not be refunded. If I am accepted into LGLP, tuition is paid, and I subsequently withdraw or drop from the program for any reason, the tuition will not be refunded. This applies even if I withdraw before the program begins. I understand that acceptance into LGLP represents a commitment to participate fully in the program, and I am responsible for communicating these terms to my employer before tuition is paid. I confirm that my employer has been made aware of and understands these terms and has approved my participation with the understanding that tuition is non-refundable under all circumstances described above. By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to these terms and confirm that my employer is aware of and accepts the financial commitment associated with my participation in the Local Government Leadership Program.
