Help us bring the Christmas Tree Festival to life
We’d love your organisation to be part of our Christmas Tree Festival by decorating a tree and helping us create a spectacular festive display for thousands of visitors to enjoy throughout the Christmas season.
Donations
To help cover the cost of providing the Christmas tree, installing the display, and running the festival, we ask participating organisations for a suggested donation of £50 per tree.
We recognise that budgets vary between organisations and community groups. If a £50 donation is not possible, we are happy to accept a smaller contribution. No organisation will be excluded from taking part because of cost, and we encourage everyone who would like to be involved to join us.

Tree Lighting
Individual trees should not be fitted with their own lights. Instead, our professional lighting system will ensure every tree is beautifully illuminated throughout the festival.
Each tree will benefit from carefully positioned uplighting, creating a warm and atmospheric display across the Cathedral while ensuring a consistent and safe presentation for all visitors.
Key Dates
- Decorating Days: Thursday 26 and Friday 27 November 2026 until 12pm
- Festival Open: Friday 27 November 2026 to Wednesday 6 January 2027 (inclusive)
- Decoration Collection and Tree Undecorating Day: Thursday 7 January 2027
As part of taking part in the festival, we ask each organisation to decorate their own tree during one of the designated decorating days. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your creativity and share something special with the thousands of visitors who come to the Cathedral during the Christmas season.
When the festival comes to an end, we kindly ask participating organisations to return on 7 January 2027 to remove and collect their decorations. We know many groups enjoy making this a final festive get-together and it helps us prepare the Cathedral for the year ahead.
