Keeping Housing Fair: Seminar for Advocates & Providers
Wednesday, October 14, 2026
1:30-3:00pm
Join presenters Sarah Jenkins and Megan Wanke from the Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council (MMFHC) for this overview of fair housing rights and how they apply to the survivors we serve.
Fair housing rights ensure consumers are treated fairly and equally, including in shelters and other supportive housing environments. MMFHC will overview local, state, and federal protected classes, prohibited practices, and red flags of discrimination.
We'll include a focus on fair housing protections for victims of domestic violence, families with children, and people with disabilities. Advocates will leave the training better prepared to recognize discriminatory practices impacting the clients they serve, and housing providers will learn how to ensure policies and practices comply with fair housing laws. The Council and its satellite offices, the Fair Housing Center of Greater Madison and the Fair Housing Center of Northeast Wisconsin, serve all of Wisconsin.
Cost: Free for End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin Program Members and Survivor-Serving Agencies.
