It is that time of year again where each of us who consider St. Herman’s as their home parish is encouraged to fill out a Stewardship Form. However, there is sometimes a little confusion as to what the difference is between a “Member” and a “Steward”.
Everyone who attends St. Herman’s, and considers this their home parish is considered a member of our parish. However, in addition to us all being members, we also have the opportunity to become a parish “Steward”.
Stewards are the Voting Members of the parish. They are Orthodox parishioners who are at least 18 years of age, and who have been attending the parish on a regular basis for the past 12 months. They are expected to be involved in the life and ministry of the parish (as they are able to), and to support the parish through their regular financial giving.
A Steward has the privilege of voting on the various issues that affect parish life, along with approving a new annual budget at the fall Annual General Meeting. Stewards are also eligible to serve as Parish Council Members, as well as be chosen as a delegate for our various Archdiocesan and All-American assemblies.

*Note: If you have only recently been received into the Holy Orthodox Church, but have been attending for more than 12 months, you are welcome to become a Steward.
