The mission of the Arvada Wheat Ridge Service Ambassadors for Youth (AWRSAY) is "to facilitate ongoing recognition, educational, and leadership opportunities for Arvada and Wheat Ridge youth who have overcome adversity." Our vision is "that all Arvada and Wheat Ridge youth recognize, act on, and realize their potential to succeed." Our purpose is "to ensure youth who otherwise might go unrecognized, yet have overcome adversity, receive public praise, educational and on-going opportunities to help them achieve their potential."

This is our 26th year of recognizing deserving youth in our community. We have now recognized 2095 youth and awarded 488 scholarships to Red Rocks Community College.

Your personal statement must be completed to move forward with the AWRSAY nomination process. Please ask your nominator for assistance in writing your personal statement as needed.

Your response will be held in the strictest confidence.

Please write a short narrative sharing your story with us.

If you are a 6-12th grader applying for the $400 personal development award, please address ONE or more of the following points below.

If you are a senior applying for an AWRSAY scholarship, you must address ALL points below.

1. What adversity have you overcome (or working to overcome) and how has it changed you?
2. What contributions have you made to your community?
3. What contributions have you made to your school?
4. What are your goals and aspirations for the future?
5. Why do you feel you are deserving of this recognition?

Please note that content is a more important consideration than length of the statement. There is no word or length requirement.
