SECTION B – Scored entry (100 points)
Question 1: Dog-friendly proposition and welcome — 20 points — maximum 500 words
*
Explain the park’s dog-friendly proposition, who it is designed for and how dogs and their owners are made to feel genuinely welcome. Maximum 500 words. Please include: • Describe the intended guests, accommodation or pitch choices, dog policies, charges and the need or opportunity the offer addresses. • Show how the welcome is communicated through marketing, booking, pre-arrival information, reception, staff interactions and the wider park experience. • Identify the thoughtful touches, services, partnerships or staff behaviours that make the experience distinctive while setting fair expectations for all guests. Judges will look for: A clear and authentic dog-friendly proposition; transparent policies and value; a warm welcome; thoughtful details; staff who confidently support dogs, owners and other guests.
Question 2: Accommodation, facilities and practical quality — 20 points — maximum 500 words
*
Demonstrate how accommodation, pitches, facilities and outdoor spaces provide a comfortable, convenient and high-quality stay for dogs and owners. Maximum 500 words. Please include: • Cover layouts, flooring, furnishings, cleaning, waste arrangements, water points, washing or drying facilities, secure spaces and dog-friendly food or social areas as relevant. • Explain exercise areas, routes, signage, lighting, fencing, seating and access to beaches, countryside or other suitable local spaces. • Show how standards, availability and cleanliness are maintained during busy periods and how the design balances canine needs with comfort for owners and non-dog guests. Judges will look for: Practical, clean and durable accommodation; useful and well-maintained facilities; safe and convenient outdoor access; thoughtful design proportionate to the park’s scale and setting.
Question 3: Canine welfare, safety and responsible ownership — 20 points — maximum 500 words
*
Show how the park protects canine welfare, manages risk and promotes responsible ownership while maintaining a positive experience for every guest. Maximum 500 words. Please include: • Explain rules and support concerning leads, exercise, unattended dogs, noise, waste, livestock, wildlife, water, heat, emergencies and interactions with children or other dogs. • Describe staff training, incident response, local veterinary contacts, lost-dog procedures and how concerns or complaints involving dogs are handled fairly and consistently. • Show how policies are evidence-led, clearly communicated and adapted for assistance dogs, older dogs, puppies, nervous dogs or other relevant needs without making unsupported welfare claims. Judges will look for: Strong canine welfare and proportionate safety management; responsible behaviour encouraged positively; trained and confident staff; fair handling of competing guest needs; credible emergency arrangements.
Question 4: Complete guest journey and local experience — 20 points — maximum 500 words
*
Explain how the park makes every stage—from research and booking to arrival, the stay and departure—easy and enjoyable for guests travelling with dogs. Maximum 500 words. Please include: • Cover website information, availability filters, charges, booking questions, pre-arrival advice, check-in, wayfinding, in-stay communications and departure or housekeeping arrangements. • Describe dog-friendly walks, attractions, beaches, pubs, cafés, transport, vets, groomers or suppliers, explaining how information is checked and kept current. • Provide a specific guest example showing how the park anticipated a need, removed friction or helped owners and dogs enjoy more of the destination. Judges will look for: Accurate and accessible information; an easy and reassuring journey; useful local knowledge and partnerships; thoughtful service recovery; evidence that dog-friendly provision enhances the whole holiday.
Question 5: Results, feedback and continuous improvement — 20 points — maximum 500 words
*
Bring the case together: what difference has the dog-friendly offer made, what proves its success and how will the park continue to improve? Maximum 500 words. Please include: • Provide results such as dog-friendly occupancy, bookings, revenue, repeat visits, satisfaction, review themes, complaints, incidents, secondary spend or seasonal extension, compared with a baseline or target. • Explain how feedback from dog owners, non-dog guests, staff, housekeeping, local communities or partners has led to practical improvement during the eligibility period. • Set out realistic plans for the next 12 to 24 months covering accommodation, facilities, welfare, staff knowledge, accessibility, local partnerships, sustainability or responsible dog tourism. Judges will look for: Credible guest and business outcomes; balanced feedback from dog and non-dog guests; evidence-led improvement; responsible growth; realistic and relevant future plans.
