As part of the Magic Valley Builders Association Scholarship application, each applicant is required to submit a 2–4 minute personal video. The purpose of the video is to help the Scholarship Committee learn more about you, your career goals, and why this scholarship would make a meaningful difference in your future.
Your video does not need to be professionally produced. A cell phone or other basic recording device is completely acceptable. Applicants will be evaluated on the content and substance of their video—not video quality, editing, equipment, or production value.
Your Video Must Address the Following:
Introduce Yourself
State your name and where you are from.
Briefly tell us something about yourself, your interests, or what makes you unique.
Your Career & Trade Goals
What trade or career are you pursuing?
What school, apprenticeship, certification, or training program are you planning to attend?
Why did you choose this particular career?
Your Future Goals
What do you hope to accomplish in your career?
Where do you see yourself in 5–10 years?
Why You Need the Scholarship
Explain how receiving this scholarship would help you pursue your education or training.
Briefly describe your financial need and why these funds would be meaningful to you.
How You Would Use the Funds
Be specific about how you would use the scholarship.
Examples include tuition, tools, safety equipment, books, certification fees, work boots, transportation, or other education- or trade-related expenses.
Why Should We Invest in You?
Tell us what qualities, experiences, work ethic, or determination you bring to your future career.
Explain why you believe you are a strong candidate for a Magic Valley Builders Association scholarship.
Show Us Your Work — Optional
If applicable, briefly show and explain a project, tool, piece of equipment, competition, class project, or other example that demonstrates your interest in the skilled trades.
This is optional and applicants will not be penalized for not having something to show.
Final Thought
End your video by answering:
"What is one thing you want the Scholarship Committee to remember about you when making its decision?"
