By applying, you agree to the following terms if selected:
Selection: You apply for specific dates. A review panel approves performers, and you are only assigned dates you applied for.
Applying does not guarantee any date.
Payment: $50 per slot, paid by check on the day of performance. Groups receive one $50 check per slot, split among members as you arrange. You keep all tips. If your total payments from Asheville Downtown Association/Asheville Downtown Improvement District this year reach $600, you will be asked to complete a W-9.
Content: Performances must be free of campaign or electoral content (candidates, parties, ballot measures), proselytizing or worship, hate speech, and harassment.
Sound: Acoustic is preferred. If your performance needs amplification (for example keyboard or cello with a pickup), note it in your application. Amplified performers must use battery-powered equipment and keep volume low enough for conversation at plaza tables.
Weather: If it rains, ADID will try to move your performance indoors to a participating Wall Street business, with full pay. If no indoor space is available on the day, you are paid $25. If ADID cancels one or more days in advance due to a multi-day forecast, with notice by 6 PM the day before, you are not paid for those dates.
Conduct: ADID staff or Ambassadors may ask you to adjust volume or content. If you comply, you are paid in full. If your set is ended for violating these guidelines, you are paid for time performed only. Harassment, hate speech, or refusal to follow repeated requests may result in no pay for that slot and removal from remaining dates.
Cancellation: To cancel a confirmed date, contact us at least 48 hours in advance at no penalty. Cancelling with less notice, or not showing up, means no pay for that date and may result in removal from remaining dates.
Date swaps: You may not trade dates with another performer directly. Contact us to request a swap.
Standby: If you are not assigned a date, you may be placed on a standby list and contacted if a slot opens. Standby performers should be available on short notice.
Scope: These terms apply to Lunchbox Live only and do not affect busking elsewhere Downtown under City ordinances.
