This form is for students who wish to register their interest in the JPSS Soccer Academy for 2027.
Expressions of interest are open to students who will be in Years 7–12 in 2027. However, the selection process will be slightly different depending on the student’s year level.
Current Year 6 students (entering Year 7 in 2027)
Current Year 6 students will be required to attend a trial, which will be the Year 6 into Year 7 Taste of High School Soccer Carnival that will be held on the Wednesday of week 8 in term 4 (December 2nd). This is the second day of 'Taste of High School' for year 6's and the carnival usually runs from 9:00am until 10:30am.
All current Year 6 students who wish to be considered for the Academy must:
- Complete this Expression of Interest form
- Attend the Taste of High School Soccer Carnival
We strongly recommend that all Year 6 students hoping to be selected attend the transition day carnival, as this will provide an important opportunity for selectors to assess players.
Students should bring futsal shoes (or sneakers if they do not have futsal shoes), as well as a water bottle for this outdoor soccer carnival. It will be held on the school's Southern Oval.
Current Year 7–11 students
Current Year 7–11 students will not be required to attend a soccer trial in 2026. Instead, players will be assessed through observations of their performance and participation in HPE and Soccer lessons throughout 2026, and for the remainder of this year.
Students in these years are still required to complete this Expression of Interest form to indicate that they would like to be considered for the Soccer Academy in 2027.
Selection Criteria
Selection will consider a range of factors, including:
- Soccer ability: passing, first touch/control, dribbling, shooting and game awareness
- Teamwork and communication
- Effort and attitude
- Behaviour and conduct
- Participation and commitment
- Where required, selectors may also speak with classroom and HPE teachers regarding a student's school attendance, behaviour, effort and general character.
For Players Who Are Not Selected
We understand that the selection process can be difficult, particularly when there are more interested players than available positions.
Students who are not selected for the 2027 Soccer Academy are strongly encouraged to continue playing and developing their soccer. JPSS is also hoping to provide a non-Academy school soccer team in 2027, providing another opportunity for students to represent the school and continue playing soccer.
We wish all prospective Soccer Academy players the very best and look forward to seeing the Year 6 students at the Taste of High School Soccer Carnival, as well as continuing to work with our current Academy and prospective players throughout 2026.
