The Cascadia Creators Cohort is an advanced, community‑centered program designed for filmmakers who have completed prior Cascadia Media Lab workshops and are ready to take the next step: making a short film from the ground up. This cohort blends independent creative development with guided support, giving returning students the structure, momentum, and collaborative environment needed to bring a new project to life.
Across nine weeks, participants will move through the full production pipeline — from concept to final cut — while working largely self‑directed. Each filmmaker will work collaboratively on a collective project, shaping the vision, building the workflow, and driving the creative decisions. Cascadia Media Lab instructors provide weekly check‑ins, targeted feedback, production guidance, and technical support to help students stay on track and elevate their work.
This cohort is designed to mirror a real‑world creative process: students set goals, manage timelines, collaborate with peers, and problem‑solve through the challenges of production. By the end of the program, each participant will have contributed to a short film that reflects their voice, craft, and growth as an emerging filmmaker.
