• Executive Presence Snapshot

You can be very good at what you do and still find that others don't fully experience what you're capable of. This 5-minute reflection will help you notice where your executive presence is already working for you — and where one intentional shift could make a meaningful difference.
  • There are no right or wrong answers. Respond based on what you do consistently, rather than what you know you're capable of doing.

  • Own Your Value

Do you know what you bring – and can you put that value into words?
  • I can identify the particular strengths, talents and abilities that distinguish the contribution I make.*
  • I can point to specific examples of where those strengths have made a difference or created an impact.*
  • I can clearly articulate the value I bring, rather than simply describing my experience, qualifications or responsibilities.*
  • I can connect what I bring to the needs, challenges or opportunities of the person or organisation in front of me.*
  • Use Your Voice

Knowing you have something to contribute is one thing. Brining it into the room is another.
  • I contribute my ideas and perspectives without waiting to see what others think first.*
  • I express my point of view even when it differs from the prevailing opinion in the room.*
  • I state my ideas with conviction, without minimising them, apologising for them or undermining my own credibility.*
  • I communicate my ideas clearly and succinctly, rather than over-explaining or diluting my message.*
  • Build Influence

How well do you see the issue from the other side of the table?
  • Before trying to influence someone, I consider the issue from their perspective, not just my own.*
  • I think about what matters most to them – their priorities, concerns, pressures and what they may feel vulnerable about.*
  • I anticipate what they will need in order to feel confident supporting my idea – reassurance, evidence, data, options or answers to potential concerns.*
  • I adapt how I present my idea based on what is most likely to matter to the person I am trying to influence.*
  • Step Into Authority

Do you recognise when you have the authority – and responsibility – to contribute?
  • I take ownership of decisions and responsibilities that are mine, rather than seeking unnecessary permission or reassurance.*
  • I contribute when I believe my perspective could add value, even when the issue falls outside my immediate role or area of responsibility.*
  • I am willing to make a clear recommendation or take a position when my experience and judgement can help move something forward.*
  • I can stand behind my position when challenged, while remaining open to information or perspectives that may change my thinking.*
  • Lead with Intention

Do you decide what you want to create – or wait to see what happens?
  • Before an important meeting or conversation, I am clear about what I want to achieve or contribute.*
  • I think about what would make the interaction worthwhile, rather than simply turning up and responding to what happens.*
  • I make deliberate choices about how I want to show up — what I will say, ask, contribute or do.*
  • I take responsibility for creating the outcome I want rather than waiting for others to invite, validate or give me permission to contribute.*
  • Looking at your responses, which area would make the biggest difference for you right now?*
