    • Non-United States country travelers, or those given permission to book independently, may book their own airfare from their home country. An $1100.00 credit will be applied to the package price if travel is booked outside of the package price. Additional fees may apply for ground transport. (contact coordinator for package pricing).
    • A $100 non-refundable deposit per person is required at time of booking.
    • Bookings for groups of 10 and over will require airline ticketing and non-refundable payment of 1/2 of package price at time of ticketing, approximately 90 days before travel and completed payment a minimum of 60 days before travel.
    • Bookings for individuals or groups under 10 will require airline ticketing and non-refundable payment of 1/2 of package price at time of airline reservation booking and completed payment a minimum of 60 days before travel.

  • PERSONAL BEHAVIOR

Even when you are not on the Mission campus, you are a representative of the Mission. When you are visiting surrounding villages, please adhere to the same high level of behavior that is expected on the MNC campus.

    I understand that:

    • In keeping with MNC’s goal of being a sanctuary for health and renewal, and out of respect for the culture of the people the Mission serves, I will not engage in the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs, including marijuana, or have these items on my person at the Mission. I will not gamble, use vulgar or lewd language, or engage in disrespectful or reckless behavior. A violation of this rule may result in a request to leave the Mission, without return of fees collected.
    • I will dress modestly and with respect for the Fijian culture. (Please refer to the FAQs for a detailed dress code.)
    • I will refrain from negative comments or discussions concerning Fiji’s government, customs, and religions - especially with Fijians.
    • I will follow security procedures, including staying with the group, communicating my whereabouts with my team leader, and being responsible for my personal property. (There are no locks on room doors. Theft has never been an issue, however, there is a MNC safe if there are valuables you would like to have locked up during your stay).
    • I will not permit anyone except registered guests of the Mission and housekeeping staff into my guest room. If I believe I have a reason to invite a staff member or Fijian into my room, I will first consult with the Mission director.  I will not ask to visit staff in their homes.

  • CULTURAL UNDERSTANDING

    • I understand that the Fijian culture is different from my own. If I visit a village, I will wear modest clothing and if am invited into the chief's or another's home, I will take off my hat. I will leave my shoes outside the door when entering a home. I understand that it is insulting to touch or pat someone's head, and I will not do so, even to children.
    • I will not use swear words or inappropriate language at the Mission or when speaking to any Fijian or staff member. If I am asked to give a presentation at the clinic, school, or village, I will remember to speak slowly, clearly and in short sentences. I understand that Illustrations are always helpful, but must be appropriate in nature.
    • I will not make requests of a personal nature of Mission staff members, other than the Mission coordinators. (Staff members will go out of their way to try to please a guest, but your request may not be in keeping with Mission policy or their duties. Our onsite Mission coordinators, Denis and Ornella Kalbermatter, will assist you with your requests or refer you to the appropriate staff member.)
    • I will not contact the Mission staff in Fiji before or after the trip, unless I have been directed to contact them by a U.S. team member, or unless I am a physician needing to communicate with Mission medical directors about clinic matters. (We do encourage you to “like” the Mission’s Facebook page and comment there about your experience. www.facebook.com/mncfiji . If you have photos or messages that you would like to share with staff, please send them to Janet at Janet@natuvu.org and she will make sure the staff member receives your communication.)
    • I understand that in keeping with the Mission and the Fijian sense of propriety, I will avoid being alone for any lengthy period of time with a member of the opposite sex, not including my spouse, especially staff members or Fijians, as this can be easily misinterpreted. I also understand that any interaction by an adult with an unrelated minor must be in a group or chaperoned setting.
    • During outreach in a village, I will always ask permission before taking photos of individuals, as well as of their homes, animals, etc. I will be sensitive to the privacy of the Mission's island neighbors.
    • I will not visit the homes of any staff member or Fijian without consultation of our Mission onsite coordinator.
    • I will not give tips or gifts or make promises of any kind to any staff or villager without the permission of the Mission onsite coordinators (Denis and Ornella), as this shows favoritism and will cause jealousy. (We are happy to accept donations to the staff Christmas fund, which will let you show your appreciation to the staff and will be shared equally with all staff. You can do this by giving the donation directly to Denis or Ornella Kalbermatter at the Mission, or on our Natuvu website "Donation" page.)
    • I will report to my Mission coordinators any instance of a staff member or another Fijian asking me to give them a gift or monetary donation.

  • Being Part of the Mission Community

  • Kindly remember that, among other things, MNC is a place of employment and training, and while staff welcome when interest is shown in their work, they all have tasks to perform and deadlines to meet.

Remember you are part of a team – just like any staff member. Do not dictate to the staff, but work along-side them in humility, learning from them. All have job descriptions and have been carefully chosen for their positions in the ministry of MNC.

  • GUIDELINES VIOLATIONS

I understand and agree that if I violate any of the guidelines in this Agreement in any way I:

    • May be subject to immediate removal from the MNC campus and possibly lose my privileges to participate in any future MNC visit, and

The Mission at Natuvu Creek is a unique ministry. We are grateful to the Fijians who allow us to live and work in their country. An attitude of humility and flexibility are essential for your success in this purposeful adventure. We hope you will continue your involvement with MNC for many years to come.

MNC is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free environment which we believe is essential for achieving the goal of "wholeness". Fiji is filled with opportunities for healthy fun and exercise. May God bless your visit and travel to and from the Mission at Natuvu Creek. Thank you for your support!
