  • 2026 Holiday Art + Photo Show — Artist Registration

The Sandy Hook Foundation (SHF) will host its annual Holiday Art + Photo Show and Sale at Spermaceti US Lifesaving Station this December. All artists interested in showcasing and selling their work are encouraged to participate. The show will open with a evening reception on Thursday, December 10th, and will remain open to the public December 11th–13th. Proceeds from this show benefit the SHF and its work in the park.

IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ ALL DETAILS BEFORE PROCEEDING.

    Quick Overview

For a registration fee of $50, interested participants will receive one dedicated 2'wx8'h display space for their work. You may submit as many display-ready pieces as will fit in that area and price your pieces for sale. New this year, the show welcomes 2D artwork in any medium — painting, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, fiber art, and more, in addition to photography — as long as it can be hung on our display grids (we're not able to accommodate 3D work like pottery or sculpture). SHF will handle all sales and retain a 30% commission on work sold; you'll receive 70% of the sale price.

    Signing Up

    • Only artists who register and pay the $50 registration fee by Nov 2nd, or until we reach capacity, will be eligible to participate.
    • Upon registering, you must complete the art intake form (link provided after registration) and return it no later than Wednesday, Nov 18th, at 5 pm.
    • SHF reserves the right to decline any submission and will allow you to submit a replacement piece if needed.
    • SHF will only display pieces listed on your intake form.
    • You may submit as many pieces as will fit on the display grid(s) you purchase (one registration fee = one 8ft(h) x 2ft(w) display grid).
    • An individual artist may purchase a maximum of 4 grids, to ensure a diverse body of work at the show.
    • SHF retains the right to use digital images of your displayed work for promotional purposes, including printed materials, social media, and our website.

    Artwork and Show Requirements.

    • All work submitted must be your own original artwork.
    • Work must be 2D and able to be hung on our display grids — no pottery, sculpture, or other 3D/tabletop work, as we don't have the space for it.
    • All entries must be display-ready: framed, or printed/mounted on wrapped canvas, metal, or another display mount.
    • All entries must be wired for hanging, with no exceptions — if it isn't wired, we can't guarantee it can be displayed on the grids.
    • Nothing may be attached directly to the walls; all work must be displayed on the grids provided.
    • All entries must fit within your purchased display space with no overhang (max width per entry is 24", unless you've purchased multiple adjoining grids).
    • You set the price for your own work — no minimum or maximum.
    • All entries must remain at the show for its entire duration.

    Payments for Sold Work

    • SHF handles all sales transactions at the show.
    • SHF retains a 30% commission on each piece sold; you receive 70% of the sale price.

  • FAQs

    • Can I sign up if I don't know exactly what I want to show yet?
    • Yes! Once you register, you'll receive a link to the submission inventory form. It's not due until Nov 18th, so you'll have time to decide.
    • Can I sign up if I don't know exactly what I want to show yet?
    • Is there a limit to how many pieces I can enter?
    • One registration gives you an 8'(h) x 2'(w) display grid. Fill it with as many or as few display-ready pieces as you like, as long as nothing exceeds the 24 inch width limit or overhangs the space.

That said, we do not recommend that you use the space all the way to the floor.  It has been our experience, that those pieces are hard to see and don't tend to sell. Additionally, they have the potential to get damaged by someone unintentionally kicking them at floor level!

    • Is there a limit to how many pieces I can enter?
    • Can I register for more than one display grid? And if so, will they be adjacent to each other?
    • Yes, up to 4 per artist. Multiple grids are placed next to each other, so you can also use the extra width for larger pieces (for example, 2 grids = 48 inch width).

      Additional grids are $50/each.

    • Can I register for more than one display grid? And if so, will they be adjacent to each other?
    • Does my artwork have to relate to Sandy Hook?
    • No, not at all, you're welcome to feature whatever you'd like.

We have found that pieces related to Sandy Hook or the local area tend to sell better but that is your call!

    • Does my artwork have to relate to Sandy Hook?
    • Is the opening reception different this year?
    • Yes, this year the reception is free and open to the public, whereas in past years it was invite-only for participating artists and a guest, with tickets available for purchase to the public. This year, we will ask for a suggested donation from those attending, but that is completely optional.

We made this change so that more people will be able to come to the reception, enjoy the show in the evening, and meet the artists. We hope that this will result in increased sales of your art.

We will still have drinks available and some holiday treats for everyone to enjoy!
