  • Programme Overview

  • Topper Ireland is inviting expressions of interest from coaches interested in working within the 2026/27 Training & Development Programme. The programme aims to provide open-access, high-quality coaching opportunities for Topper sailors across Ireland, complementing the training sailors already receive within their clubs and squad environments.

  • The 2026/27 Training & Development Programme is structured around three complementary strands:

    Winter National Training | November–February — Four open coaching weekends providing the main structured development block of the winter.

    Local Development Coaching | Across the year — Support for clubs or regional groups to access experienced coaching where local provision is limited.

    Summer Event Training & Support | March–August — Race-focused training linked to Traveller events, alongside Pre-Nations training, Pre-Worlds training and World Championship coaching support.

  • Coaching Opportunities

  • This application process will be used to appoint the Programme Lead Coach and the coaching team for the Winter National Training block, while also identifying coaches interested in other elements of the programme.

    Coaches may be contacted on an ad hoc basis throughout the year to fill coaching roles in particular Local Development Coaching. Summer Event Coaching lineups will be confirmed after the winter block.

  • Programme Lead Coach

  • Topper Ireland is seeking a Programme Lead Coach to provide continuity and coaching leadership across key elements of the programme. Applicants for this role should be available for the four Winter National Training weekends, Pre-Worlds Training on 17–18 July 2027 (provisional), and the Topper World Championships from 31 July–6 August 2027.

  • Following this application process, Topper Ireland aims to appoint the Programme Lead Coach and the wider coaching team for the Winter National Training block. The application process will also be used to establish a wider pool of coaches interested in supporting other elements of the Topper Ireland Training & Development Programme. Coaches may be contacted on an ad hoc basis throughout the year for Local Development Coaching opportunities, depending on the needs of clubs, regional groups and the programme. Summer coaching appointments may be made following the Winter National Training block, once the requirements of the summer programme are clearer.

    Coaches who have expressed an interest in summer event training, Pre-Nations, Pre-Worlds or World Championship support may be contacted closer to the relevant activities to discuss availability and appointment. Appointments will be made according to the needs of each programme activity. Topper Ireland may consider factors including coaching experience, Topper knowledge, availability, continuity, regional experience and the requirements of individual training opportunities.

    Submission of an expression of interest does not guarantee appointment to a particular event or role. Coaching rates, travel arrangements and applicable expenses will be agreed with appointed coaches inline with Topper Ireland coaching payscales.
