When this all started, Mark Carney told Canadians this was not EU membership. He called the reports off. His office said “unique alliance.” And commentators scolded anyone who took it seriously.
Then, Ursula von der Leyen invited Canada to become the EU’s first “associate member” — with Carney in the front row at the European Parliament — and Carney returned the invitation in kind. We just hosted the EU Summit in Montreal, and Carney told the world what he was going to do.
Come hell or high water, he will see Canada become an EU member state. Canada will surrender its sovereignty to Brussels.
No one voted for this. Not one person.
No one went into the last election thinking they’d be voting on whether Canada would continue to be an independent country or just another pitiful member state taking orders from bureaucrats in Brussels.
No one went into the last election thinking we were going to be incorporated into Europe’s digital ID system. No one thought electing Carney would mean abiding by European carbon rules or paying an additional carbon tax. No one thought it would mean taking in “our fair share” of migrants that, to this day, are still flooding into Europe.
Neither the people nor Members of Parliament have voted on this.
What we demand
We are demanding a nationwide referendum on the EU associate membership deal. We want to know what the deal entails, what the absolute scope will be, and what the proposed safeguards are — if there are any.
And we want this referendum to be binding!
Carney has stated he’ll have a formal Canada–EU deal ready by June 2027. That’s soon. But it’s not so soon that we, the Canadian people, can’t have a say in our own fate.
Canadians have the right to choose our own destiny.
