If you haven't yet finalised your plans, or if you are unsure of any of the answers, you can say so. We will contact you by telephone or email to go through your application and planting plans in detail and to finalise tree planting plans and numbers.

Your Tree Planting Plans
Introduction - Please give a short introduction to your farm or smallholding. Describe your farm land and the local landscape. Tell us how many acres or hectares you farm and whether you are a mixed farm or specialising in one area. Describe your tillage / horticultural / livestock operations briefly.
Planting Plans - Please describe the tree planting you would like to do in as much detail as you can. Please include a short description of each planting area if you have more than one in mind, e.g. planting a new length of hedgerow to divide a field, woodland pockets in field corners, shelter belts to create shelter for livestock.
Benefits - Please tick the boxes that best describe what benefits you hope to gain with your tree planting. You can tick more than one box. Please do not feel you need to tick lots of boxes, select those that apply specifically to your project.

Site Conditions and Habitats - Please describe the conditions and existing habitats at the site. E.g. Very wet or exposed ground, poor soil or other notable site conditions. Say if the land is currently under pasture or tillage, with boundary hedges or walls or drains etc. Describe any nearby waterways, woodland, mature trees, scrub or anything notable in the area close to your planting.
Designations and Protected or Sensitive Habitats - These include land within or near to an SAC, SPA, SSSI, NHA or any other designation, known archaeology, unenclosed land, moorland, wetland, heathland, bog or unimproved old pasture or meadow that has never been ploughed or improved. You can look up designations on your land at https://gis.epa.ie/EPAMaps/ for the Republic of Ireland and at https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/services/natural-environment-map-viewer for Northern Ireland.
Designations and Protected or Sensitive Habitats - If you do have any designations, protected or sensitive habitats on your land or nearby, please outline briefly. It may not be possible to plant trees on your land, but we will guide you through any necessary steps towards seeking approval for planting.
Soils - Please describe the soil at your planting site. Give the soil type if you know it. If you are unsure please write NOT SURE.
Elevation - Please give the approximate elevation of your planting area(s) in Metres above Sea Level. If you are unsure please write NOT SURE.
Protecting your Trees - Fencing and Tree Guards - Please describe briefly how you intend to mark out and protect your trees from any likely damage e.g. from rabbits, hares, deer, livestock, mowers, strimmers etc. If you are unsure please write NOT SURE.

Latitude and Longitude - Please give the latitude and longitude of your planting site, take the most central point if you are planning to plant more than one area. For help with this please see notes below. If you're not able to do this, please write NOT SURE.
We suggest using Google Maps to find your latitude and longitude. Right-click the place or area on the map (satellite version is best). This will open a pop-up window where you will find your latitude and longitude in decimal format at the top. Click on the latitude longitude figure and it will automatically copy and can then be pasted into the box here by right-clicking into the box and clicking on paste.

Confirmation - Please confirm that you are not applying for trees for any DAFM, DAERA or other funded tree planting or afforestation schemes in RoI or NI.
Sponsors visits and help with tree planting from volunteers - Please say whether you would like to have visits and help with planting from sponsors volunteer groups.
Photographs - We require simple photographs of the planted trees as proof of planting. We also require permission to share these photographs, and those that you have uploaded to this form,with sponsors and donors for possible onward use on their websites, social media and other general media. You may wish to ensure that the photographs are of the trees only so that faces or locations are not visible in order to protect identities.
