Dear Prince Michael Roy of Sealand and the Sealand Administration,
I am writing to formally and unequivocally object to the Principality of Sealand's public and official support for Ed Sheeran.
Sealand was founded upon principles of independence, sovereignty, and freedom.
Its motto, "E Mare Libertas" "From the Sea, Freedom" reflects a belief in self-determination and independent thought. It is precisely because of those principles that many of us object to Sealand using its official position to publicly support a particular political figure whose public associations and positions relate to a deeply contested political issue, including the situation facing the Palestinian people.
We joined Sealand because it stands for freedom and independence. We do not want to see Sealand officially supporting a genocide, claiming neutrality on the subject of genocide or any actions that undermine the sovereignty and right to self-determination of any people.
Freedom and independence cannot be selective. If "E Mare Libertas" truly means "from the sea, freedom", then that principle must apply universally. I therefore strongly object to Sealand publicly aligning itself with Ed Sheeran in this context.
I ask the administration to consider whether this public endorsement is truly consistent with the principles upon which Sealand was founded and which Sealand itself continues to promote today. Sealand's motto is "E Mare Libertas", "From the Sea, Freedom".
We joined Sealand because it stands for freedom and independence. We do not want to see Sealand officially supporting a genocide apologist with direct zionist connection, or any actions that undermine the freedom and independence of people.
We wish Sealand take into consideration the 6 points presented by @sealandforpalestine.
