ABOUT:
In a fantasy realm, a young soldier serving the Spring Queen ventures into the forest on a quest to destroy the Winter Witch and prevent winter from ever returning.
CAST:
All roles are open to performers of all ethnicities. Age ranges are approximate and may be flexible based on the performer.
CALLUM – Male, 18-mid 20s. Baritone B2-G4. The central character. An earnest and slightly awkward young soldier coming into his own.
RUBY – Female, 20s. Mezzo-soprano A3-E5. Callum’s intelligent and spirited older sister.
WINTER WITCH – Female, 60s-90s. Alto/Mezzo F#3-Db5. An ancient goddess of winter – wise and mysterious with a dry sense of humor.
SPRING QUEEN – Female, 30s-50s. Mezzo-soprano A3-D5. A commanding and elegant goddess of spring with impeccable standards and a sharp wit.
ORIN + ENSEMBLE – Male, 20s. Baritone B2-G4 (G2 a plus). The charismatic captain of the Queen’s army and the realm’s most eligible bachelor.
LIORA + ENSEMBLE – Female, 40s-50s. Mezzo-soprano G3-E5. Callum and Ruby’s mother. Warm and grounded.
JEFF + ENSEMBLE – Male, 40s-50s. Baritone B2-G4 (G2 a plus). Callum and Ruby’s father. Playful and quick-witted.
BIRDIE + ENSEMBLE – Female, 30s-60s. Mezzo-soprano G3-E5. A sharp-tongued and warm-hearted talking badger. A confidant of the Winter Witch.
ADDITIONAL ENSEMBLE (4) – All ages. Seeking one soprano (C4-Bb5, A3 a plus), one mezzo-soprano (A3-F5), one tenor (C3-C5), and one baritone (B2-G4, G2 a plus).

Reading: Nov. 18, 2026
Rehearsals: Oct. 28 - Nov. 17, 2026. Full-cast and ensemble rehearsals will be held primarily evenings and weekends. Principal, individual, and small-group rehearsals will be scheduled around performer availability whenever possible.
Location: New York City
Total Time Commitment: 30-35 hours including rehearsals and performance

Additional Information: The reading will be recorded for non-public developmental purposes.
Compensation: $500-$600
