Westlake Productions Presents: Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast is a magical and enchanting fairy-tale musical that tells the story of Belle, a kind and independent young woman who finds herself imprisoned in an enchanted castle by the mysterious Beast. As Belle and the Beast slowly form an unexpected connection, she discovers the kindness hidden beneath his frightening exterior. Meanwhile, the arrogant Gaston becomes determined to win Belle's affection, leading to a dramatic clash between good and evil. Filled with beloved music, colourful characters, stunning costumes, and spectacular choreography, Beauty and the Beast is a heartwarming celebration of love, courage, and looking beyond appearances.

Weekly Rehearsal

• Tuesdays (3:30 pm-5:30 pm), Fridays (3:30 pm-5:30 pm), and Saturdays (10:00am - 1:00pm) at WBHS
• Please note that you will not be required at every rehearsal - only the ones that your character is called for. 
  
• Our first rehearsal will be on Friday, 23rd October 2026.
  • No rehearsal on Tuesday, 28th October
•  Rehearsals will start back next year the week of January 18th to 24th, 2027 TBC

 

Workshops

• These will take place the week of January 18th to 24th, 2027
  • The workshops will be 1 or two days long

Production Camp

• Week 5 of Term 1 (Friday, 26th February - Sunday, 28th February)
• Estimated cost: $230.00

 

Tech Week

• Week 2 of Term 1 holidays (Monday, 19th April 2027- Saturday, 24th April 2027)
• FINAL Dress Rehearsal on Monday, 26th April 2027

 

Show Week

• Week 1 of Term 2 (Tuesday, 27th April 2027 - Saturday, 1st May 2027)

Auditions for Beauty and the Beast will be held Tuesday, 13th October- Thursday, 15th October in M Block - Performance Theatre 1 (PT1) at Westlake Boys' High School.

Part 1: Singing

The singing audition will involve performing two prepared songs: one lead song and one ensemble song. We’ll be looking at vocal ability, confidence, musical accuracy, harmony, characterisation, and your ability to perform while singing.

Part 2: Dance

The audition dance routine is from “Be Our Guest” and will give you the opportunity to show your movement, musicality, performance, and ability to learn choreography.

If you want some help learning the dance routine, Ms. Carla Owen (Director & Choreographer) will be running a dance tutorial on Monday, 12th October at 3:30 - 4:30 pm in M Block - Performance Theatre 1 (PT1) at WBHS. 

CALLBACK AUDITION 

If you are invited to a callback, this will take place on Friday, 16 October after school.

At the callback, you will be asked to perform a selected excerpt of dialogue and song from the show.

Please sign up for an audition time using the calendar below. You can select a 30 minute slot, which will give time for 5 auditionees to sing (individually) and dance (as a group).
