NPL POWERLIFTING — PARTICIPANT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING
I understand that participation in a powerlifting competition, including but not limited to the squat, bench press, deadlift, warm-ups, equipment use, and other activities associated with the event, involves strenuous physical activity and inherent risks.
These risks may include, but are not limited to, strains, sprains, muscle or tendon injuries, broken bones, head or spinal injuries, cardiovascular events, equipment failure, accidents involving weights or lifting equipment, actions or mistakes of spotters/loaders, other participants or spectators, and other serious injuries. I understand that such injuries may result in temporary or permanent disability, paralysis, or death.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I voluntarily choose to participate in this NPL powerlifting event. I knowingly and voluntarily assume the inherent risks associated with my participation, whether known or unknown, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
I acknowledge that I am responsible for determining whether I am physically capable of participating. I understand that NPL, the meet director, event staff, officials, volunteers, venue personnel, and other parties associated with the event are not responsible for determining my medical or physical fitness to compete.
RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I release and hold harmless NPL, the event promoter and meet director, the event venue and property owner, their respective officers, directors, employees, officials, judges, spotters/loaders, volunteers, contractors, sponsors and agents (collectively, the "Released Parties") from claims arising from the ordinary negligence of the Released Parties in connection with my participation in or presence at the event.
This release is not intended to waive claims that cannot legally be waived under applicable law, including liability that applicable law does not permit to be released by agreement.
RULES AND EQUIPMENT
I agree to follow all NPL rules and instructions provided by meet officials, judges, spotters/loaders and event personnel. I understand that I may be removed from competition or prevented from attempting a lift if event officials determine that my conduct creates an unreasonable safety risk or violates applicable competition rules.
I am responsible for ensuring that any personal equipment I use is appropriate and in safe working condition.
MEDICAL TREATMENT
If I become injured or experience a medical emergency and I am unable to provide consent, I authorize event personnel to contact emergency medical services and take reasonable steps to obtain emergency assistance for me.
I understand that NPL and the event organizers do not guarantee the availability of medical personnel or treatment. I accept responsibility for medical expenses incurred on my behalf except to the extent otherwise required by law.
PHOTO, VIDEO AND MEDIA RELEASE
I understand that photographs, video recordings, livestreams and other media may be captured during the event. I grant NPL and the event organizer permission to use images and recordings of my participation for legitimate event coverage, results, promotional materials, websites and social-media content, without compensation to me, unless prohibited by applicable law.
PERSONAL PROPERTY
I understand that I am responsible for my personal belongings and equipment. NPL and the event organizers are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property except where responsibility cannot legally be disclaimed.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I certify that I have read this waiver and understand its terms. I understand that by signing it I am giving up certain legal rights. I enter into this agreement voluntarily and without coercion.
