The 4th Annual Gun Violence Prevention Research Breakfast will reflect on the Kaiser Permanente Center for Gun Violence Research and Education’s journey and ongoing efforts to support healthcare approaches to firearm injury prevention. Over the past several years, the Center has become a leader in this work through research, grantmaking, narrative change, and capacity building—alongside researchers, practitioners, healthcare organizations, and community partners. Together, these efforts seek to strengthen the evidence base, elevate promising approaches, and help translate research and innovation into meaningful changes in healthcare systems and practice. Presenters will share lessons learned, emerging opportunities, and perspectives on where continued collaboration and investment are needed for firearm injury prevention. Our goal is to kickstart dialogue and brainstorming that can continue beyond APHA— create space to identify shared challenges, explore new possibilities, and consider how researchers, practitioners, healthcare leaders, funders and community partners can advance this work together.  Join us during APHA 2026 on Monday, November 2nd from 8:30am-10:00am.
