  • Your Ally's Details

  • In order to take part in the programme, academic and professional services applicants must be endorsed by an Ally. (Allies are not part of the PhD experience). When thinking about how to identify an Ally:

    • Choose someone at department, faculty, school, or division level with the authority to influence workload, priorities, and decision-making.
    • This could be your line manager.

Look for a person who is respected, open, and committed to equity and change.
Remember: an Ally doesn’t need to share your background; what matters is their ability and willingness to act.

For guidance on how to select and have a conversation with an Ally please see our guidance HERE.

Your university will assign you a senior sponsor as part of the programme. Your sponsor will use their senior leadership position and networks to help create tangible opportunities for career progression, help to remove barriers and ensure your achievements are visible and recognised.
