Center for Ethics Faculty/Professional Fellow Application

This form allows you to apply to become part of the Faculty and Professional Fellows program at the Center for Ethics. The program is designed to nurture a vital network of ethics-oriented teachers, scholars, and professionals across Emory University. It offers Fellows a congenial space to share work and explore longstanding and emerging ethical issues. It also aims to be responsive to the needs of faculty working on ethical issues. Should you, in the course of your time as a Fellow, have need of anything, do not hesitate to contact the Center. In the past, Fellows have benefited from consultations with Center faculty, collaboration on grants, class visits, etc. But your needs might be unique, so please ask. Each Fellow is also an opportunity for our growth as well.

To acknowledge the range of work in ethics being done at Emory, there are two tracks for fellows: Faculty and Professional. The former have faculty appointments at Emory, the latter occupy some other professional role at Emory. Fellows are appointed for three years. Reappointment is possible with the consent of both parties.

Below we ask you to provide us with some basic information about your work in ethics and indicate what kind of Fellow you wish to be. Your answers will be posted on our website alongside your name to alert other Faculty Fellows to your work, and to facilitate collaborations.

Fellows are expected to participate in Center activities on a regular basis, including general meetings (of which there will be 3/year). Our first meeting will be held on October 28, 2026 from 12:00 - 1:30 pm in Room 102 in the Rita Anne Rollins Building (1531 Dickey Drive, First Floor).

In addition to attending general meetings, participation could include:

Support for the MAB program, e.g. visiting a class, serving on a thesis committee, supporting a practicum, etc.
Attending and/or presenting work in the Center's Research Seminar
Participation in a Center led public event

Fellows may ask the Center for teaching and research support, noting that support in the form of simple money will be modest at best. But it never hurts to ask.

Fellows must report their interactions with the Center on an annual basis.
