Class Description: Join us for a panel presentation about the future of doula work, including a justice framework, funding discussions, and building sustainable careers in care work. Our diverse panelists bring unique experience and perspectives on business and funding models, collective organization, new paths within doula work, and building sustainable careers while staying rooted in justice.
Panelists: This panel presentation is co-hosted by New Mexico Doula Association and Holistic Repro Project.
Sabia Wade (she/they) is the founder/CEO of Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings, founder/advisor of For The Village, author of Birthing Liberation, and Chief Strategy Officer/Interim CEO of Orchid Capital Collective. Sabia is a full-spectrum doula, educator, and advocate centering reproductive justice, full spectrum community care and community infrastructure sustainability.
Melissa Marie Lopez-Sullivan (she/her) is a full-spectrum doula and Clinical Director of the New Mexico Doula Association, the BIPOC-led birth justice organization she co-leads, where advocacy has centered statewide Medicaid doula coverage and workforce sustainability. She also leads Las Cruces Doula, a collective serving families across southern New Mexico and El Paso.
Teyler Wallace is a postpartum doula, educator, and Founder and Executive Director of Doula For The People and The Foodie Doula. Rooted in reproductive liberation and a nature-based approach to care, Teyler’s work centers nourishment, rest, community, and connection, creating more accessible and holistic systems of support for postpartum people, those navigating abortion or loss, and their families.
Cera Ariel is a abortion doula, clinical herbalist, and fertility awareness educator. Residing on Ohlone land in the East Bay, CA, they are tending to the path of collective liberation and reproductive autonomy. They have been supporting the abortion doula program through Holistic Repro Project since 2024 and have been practicing as an abortion doula since 2017.
