POSITION SUMMARY:
Agha Engineering is hiring a Project Engineer to join our Drainage Design Group in our Houston, Texas office located at 1080 Eldridge Pkwy Suite 1100, Houston, TX 77077. The Project Engineer will lead the analysis, design, and development of transportation and drainage infrastructure projects for public and private-sector clients. This position will provide technical leadership and oversight of drainage design activities, including hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, drainage system design, PS&E development, technical deliverables, and coordination with roadway and other project disciplines. The position will also support project planning, scope and fee development, and successful delivery of projects in accordance with applicable standards, schedules, and budgets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the analysis, design, and plan production for general civil engineering on a wide variety of projects, including roadway drainage and site/neighborhood drainage PS&E analysis and design. Provide drainage design for projects with clients including DOTs, Counties, Cities, Flood Districts, and private development.
- Perform and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and transportation drainage system design, including storm sewer, culverts, channels, detention/retention facilities, and related drainage improvements.
- Conduct drainage analysis and design in accordance with project requirements and applicable transportation agency criteria and standards.
- Prepare storm sewer, cross drainage, and floodplain models using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), ORD Drainage and Utilities (ORD DU), and other applicable software.
- Develop and review engineering calculations, quantities, cost estimates, plan, specifications, reports, and other technical deliverables.
- Develop, review, and maintain drainage PS&E plans, specifications, quantities, and supporting documentation in accordance with applicable TxDOT standards and project requirements.
- Evaluate project requirements and apply appropriate engineering judgement in the selection, modification, and application of design procedures, criteria, standards, and specifications.
- Make decisions on significant design and engineering techniques and procedures and provide solutions to complex technical problems.
- Review technical work prepared by project staff and other professionals for quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards as needed.
- Coordinate drainage design and technical activities with roadway and other disciplines to resolve design issues and deliver quality projects within budget and schedule.
- Oversee project design activities, supervising production efforts, and mentoring junior level support staff and other team members.
- Prepare and review civil engineering scopes of work for proposals and assist with fee and schedule development as needed.
- Participate in project-related production and coordination meetings and engage with clients to build relationships and support project needs.
- Perform other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong operating knowledge of MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
- Strong operating knowledge of OpenRoads Designer Drainage & Utilities (ORD DU) for Drainage PS&E and Analysis.
- Proficiency in CivilStorm.
- Knowledge of the TxDOT Hydraulic Design Manual.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited university preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
- 5-10+ years of civil engineering experience, with strong experience in drainage design and plan production.
- Demonstrated proficiency in drainage PS&E development.
- Valid TX driver's license and insurable driving record.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with TxDOT, Harris County Flood Control District, and/or City of Houston.
PREFERRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with HEC-RAS and/or HEC-HMS.
