About the Arts and Science Federation of Associations (ASFA):

ASFA is an Independent and student-run union that represents the collective voice of over 15,000 students in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Concordia. ASFA advocates for student rights, builds community on campus through events, supports 33 department-based student Member Associations, and provides services to foster a supportive and positive student experience.

ASFA and the Member Associations in Arts and Science hold By-Elections to fill vacancies on their executive teams each November, and General Elections for every position in March.

Elections are organized as set out in the ASFA Elections Policy (linked)

The lead organizers of ASFA elections are the Elections Coordinator and the Chief Returning Officer (CRO). They are supported by up to two Deputy Election Coordinators (DEC) and collectively form the Elections Committee. These four individuals are tasked with planning and implementing ASFA's elections in a neutral, fair, and professional manner. 

The role of Elections Coordinator and CRO is a challenging but fun position where you will gain many valuable skills and make a real contribution to student democracy. The position comes with some strict deadlines and intense periods (notably in the week before the start of nominations opening) so strong time management skills are essential. 

The DEC position is also a great way to contribute and earn an honorarium, with a lighter time committment.

For the Elections Coordinator and CRO positions, you can reasonably expect to work for approximately 10 hours per week in October-November and February-March, which may be spread unevenly between weeks.

The Elections Coordinator and CRO will be paid an honorarium equivalent to 19$/h after each election period.

The DEC will be paid an honorarium equivalent to 17$/h after each election period.

All applicants will be placed into the same pool, and top candidates will be selected for the Elections Coordinator and CRO positions. Additional qualified candidates will be offered the DEC position based on the same interview process.

Concordia Work-Study Program Eligibility

Work-Study is a program at Concordia which provides funding grants to help hire students with financial need. There are three types of eligibility categories - 1) Quebec Residents, 2) Canadian Out-of-Province Residents, and 3) International students.
