• CPSRP CODE OF ETHICS & VALUES

    Virtual Event via Zoom
  • Date & Time

    Tuesday - October 22, 2026 - 6:30PM to 8:30PM
  • Are you a Certified Peer Recovery Support Professional?*
  • Certified Peer Support & Recovery Professional Code of Ethics & Values
This interactive virtual training provides Certified Peer Support Recovery Professionals with an opportunity to explore the Code of Ethics and Values that guides ethical peer support practice. The session moves beyond simply reviewing ethical standards and focuses on how those standards show up in everyday interactions with the people we serve, our colleagues, supervisors, and our communities.

Participants will examine the role of lived/recovery experience in peer support, including how personal stories can be shared appropriately to promote recovery, hope, and resilience. The training will also explore cultural humility as an ongoing process of self-exploration, self-critique, and learning from others.

Key areas of the Code of Ethics will include:

Sharing lived experience appropriately and purposefully
    Practicing cultural humility
Maintaining current knowledge and engaging in professional development
    Participating in peer support supervision
Protecting dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and individual rights
Understanding confidentiality considerations across verbal, written, and electronic communication, including social media, texting, and video conferencing
    Recognizing and preventing discrimination
Supporting self-determination and the individual's right to make their own decisions
Advocating for full participation and inclusion within communities of choice
Recognizing and navigating dual relationships and potential conflicts of interest
    Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries
Understanding the prohibition against sexual or intimate relationships with people being served.
Rather than relying solely on lecture, this two-hour Zoom training will use brief case scenarios, breakout-room discussions, group reflection, and facilitated conversation. Participants will have opportunities to consider realistic situations that CPSRPs may encounter and discuss how the Code of Ethics can guide decision-making.

By the end of the session, participants will have an opportunity to identify ethical considerations in common peer-support situations, distinguish between supportive and potentially problematic practices, and consider practical strategies for maintaining boundaries, confidentiality, cultural humility, and person-centered support.
