Umpqua Valley Arts is hosting another poster contest for the 58th Annual Summer Arts Festival! We currently have an open call to artists to submit up to three images of artwork that illustrate the spirit of the festival to be used for the poster and other marketing materials for the event.
There is no theme. Artists are welcome to use their imagination to submit something unique and special to represent our favorite annual celebration of the arts. UVA is looking for submissions with design elements/subject matter that:
- Supports and showcases UVA's mission of creating and fostering a climate that supports arts appreciation, education, and participation.
- Embodies the spirit of the Annual Summer Arts Festival, a gathering of artists, food vendors, and entertainers to celebrate and support the arts.
- (optional) Reflects the area in which UVA and the Festival take place: Douglas County and/or Central Oregon.
Submission Guidelines:
The purpose of the contest is to design a poster promoting the 58th Annual Summer Arts Festival. Please note our submission guidelines below:
- Poster designs will be original artwork that the applicant thinks best exemplifies the requested design elements above.
- The contest is open to all 2D media except video and audio files.
- While the above elements/subject matter are preferred, UVA welcomes artwork that represents the artist's own style/subject matter of choice.
- Both traditional and digital artwork are accepted.
- For best quality when jurying, submissions must be in JPG format, 300dpi, 1920px on the longest side.
- For traditional artwork, please make sure your images are straight with the artwork and not at an angle for the best representation of the piece.
- The deadline for all entries is December 12th, 2026.
Artwork Selection:
Artwork will be selected by a panel consisting of Umpqua Valley Arts Staff and/or others including local art professionals and community representatives that embrace UVA's mission and the philosophy and goals of the festival. Artwork will be selected using guidelines and considerations that include (but are not limited to):
- The quality of the work meets UVA and festival standards. Quality considerations include (but are not limited to) skills in craftsmanship, creative ability, ingenuity, and design skills.
- All of the work is original and does not include designs, content, images, and/or objects that are copyrighted and/or belong to another artist/entity.
- The work is not created with the use of AI programs or tools.
Artwork Use:
After selection, UVA will convert the artwork/design to a digital file that will then be used for marketing purposes. For traditional works, this means taking a photograph of the image that we can then edit to create marketing materials in multiple formats. These marketing purposes include (but are not limited to) website, social media, posters, apparel, postcards, program information, collateral, press release, signage and other communication mediums. Selected artwork may be slightly altered, cropped, or edited for formatting purposes and to accommodate pertinent Festival information where applicable.
Award:
The winning artists will be awarded a $500 prize along with a free Summer Arts Festival T-Shirt, free entry into the festival, credit on the poster, and credit in the Summer Arts Festival Guide that is created for visitors.
