Living Word is exploring a beginner wrestling academy for students currently in 2nd–8th grade from all area schools. It’s designed for kids who are new to wrestling, want to try it or have limited experience.
We hope to have at least 15 interested students to make the academy happen this year.
Here’s what we’re considering:
- Season: January through April 2027. Students can attend when their schedules allow, even if they’re playing basketball or another winter sport.
- Focus: Learning wrestling fundamentals, building confidence and having fun.
- Practices: Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons at Surge Martial Arts in Germantown. Additional practices may be added at Living Word Lutheran High School.
- Coaching: Craig Sorbo, a Trinity parent, is willing to lead practices. We’ll also need parent helpers. If you’re interested in assisting, please let us know in the survey.
- Estimated cost: Around $75, including a T-shirt.
- First-year plan: Practices only, with no meets planned. We hope to grow into a program that competes in meets in future years.
Details may change based on family interest. Please complete one survey per student. This survey helps us plan; it is not registration.
