POSITION SUMMARY:
Agha Engineering is hiring a Project Engineer to join our Transportation Roadway Group in our Houston, Texas office located at 1080 Eldridge Pkwy Suite 1100, Houston, TX 77077. The Project Engineer will lead the analysis, design, and development of transportation and roadway infrastructure projects for public and private-sector clients. This position will provide technical leadership and oversight of transportation design activities, including roadway PS&E development, technical deliverables, and coordination with drainage, traffic, utilities, structures, surveying, and other project disciplines. The position will also support project planning, scope and fee development, and successful delivery of projects in accordance with applicable standards, schedules, and budgets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the analysis, design, and plan production for general civil engineering on a wide variety of projects, including roadway and transportation PS&E analysis and design. Provide roadway design and PS&E development for projects with clients including DOTs, Counties, Cities, and private development.
- Lead roadway geometric design, including horizontal and vertical alignments, typical sections, profiles, cross sections, corridor modeling, grading, intersections, and related roadway elements.
- Develop and review transportation PS&E documents, including plans, profiles, cross sections, details, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
- Design and evaluate roadway improvements, including pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalks, shared-use paths, driveways, intersections, medians, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and related improvements.
- Develop and review roadway models and plan production using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), including geometry, terrain modeling, profiles, cross sections, grading, and related design components.
- Perform and oversee design calculations, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bid item development, and other engineering analyses.
- Apply appropriate engineering judgment in the selection and application of design criteria, standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Review technical work for quality, accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate roadway design with drainage, traffic, signing and striping, utilities, structures, surveying, environmental, and other disciplines.
- Perform or oversee ADA/accessibility evaluations and incorporate applicable pedestrian and bicycle design requirements.
- Oversee project design activities, supervising production efforts, and mentoring junior level support staff and other team members.
- Prepare and review civil engineering scopes of work for proposals and assist with fee and schedule development as needed.
- Participate in project-related production and coordination meetings and engage with clients to build relationships and support project needs.
- Perform other duties as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong operating knowledge of MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
- Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) roadway design and modeling tools, including roadway geometry, terrain modeling, profiles, cross sections, and plan production.
- Proficiency in roadway geometric design, corridor modeling, and transportation PS&E development.
- Knowledge of applicable transportation design criteria, standards, specifications, and PS&E requirements, including TxDOT requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited university preferred)
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
- 8+ years of civil engineering experience, with strong experience in roadway, transportation, and design and plan production.
- Demonstrated experience with roadway geometric design, corridor modeling, PS&E development, and plan production.
- Valid TX driver's license and insurable driving record.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with TxDOT, City of Houston, and/or other Texas transportation agencies.
- Experience leading transportation projects from preliminary engineering through final PS&E.
- Experience coordinating roadway design with drainage, traffic, utilities, structures, surveying, and other disciplines.
PREFERRED TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with additional transportation design and analysis software is a plus.
