Our Services
Berkshire Nursing Families, Inc. (BNF) is a nonprofit organization offering free, inclusive services to all families, funded through community donations and grants.
If at any time you wish to withdraw your consent for any portion of our services, including group participation or data use, please speak directly with your BNF provider or contact us at info@berkshirenursingfamilies.org or (413) 344-2800. Withdrawing consent will not impact your access to care or other services.
Your Private Health Information
BNF collects limited information such as your name, contact details, and demographic information to track service reach. All records are stored securely in HIPAA-compliant, encrypted systems accessible only to authorized BNF staff.
Running Participation
Milk Miles is offered in partnership with the Berkshire Endurance Project, a USA Track & Field (USATF) member club serving runners of all abilities in Berkshire County. Our run leaders hold the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) RunLead Badge and are trained in CPR and First Aid. The information they share does not replace the care of your healthcare provider.
Milk Miles runs involve physical movement and exercise, which carry some risk of injury. Please listen to your body, go at your own pace, and modify as needed. If you are pregnant or postpartum, your body is going through real changes, so take extra care. Stop running and let a run leader know if you experience pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or any symptom that concerns you, including bleeding or leaking during pregnancy or postpartum.
If you bring your child in a jogging stroller, you are responsible for their safety and supervision during the run.
In a medical emergency, run leaders may call 911 and contact the emergency contact you've listed. Your emergency contact and any safety information you share may be provided to Milk Miles run leaders, including our partner coaches, for your safety during runs.
Waiver of Liability
By signing below, you acknowledge that Milk Miles runs involve inherent risks, including but not limited to trips and falls, contact with other runners, collisions with motor vehicles or other traffic hazards, weather and course conditions, illness (including exposure to viruses), and injury resulting from physical exertion. You voluntarily assume full responsibility for these risks. In consideration of being permitted to participate, you release and hold harmless Berkshire Nursing Families, the Berkshire Endurance Project, USA Track & Field, and their boards of directors, staff, run leaders, coaches, and volunteers from any and all claims, losses, or causes of action for personal injury, illness, or property loss arising from your participation. This release applies to runs held on public roads, rail trails, tracks, or any other location used for Milk Miles.
You confirm that you are in suitable health to participate and have consulted with your healthcare provider about any health concerns, including running during pregnancy or postpartum if that applies to you. You understand that run leaders and coaches are not trained or licensed to diagnose or treat medical conditions, and that you are responsible for any medical costs if you are injured during a run. You agree to participate at your own discretion.
Group Participation & Confidentiality
We ask that all participants respect one another's privacy. Please do not share personal details or stories shared by other runners outside the group. Our run leaders will also maintain strict confidentiality of what is shared during runs, unless there is a legal obligation to report.
Photography and Images
We love capturing the joy of Milk Miles! With your permission, BNF and the Berkshire Endurance Project may take photos or video during runs and use them in promotional materials such as our websites, newsletters, BNF and partner social media, flyers, annual reports, and grant materials. Please choose an option in the signature section below. You will not receive payment for the use of images. You can change your choice at any time by letting us know in writing, and we will stop using your images going forward, though we cannot recall materials that have already been printed or published. Saying no will never affect your participation, and run leaders will do their best to keep you and your child out of photos.
Legal & Ethical Disclosures
Your privacy is very important to us. We will never share your personal information with anyone outside of BNF without your written permission, except as described in this form.
There are a few rare situations where we are legally required or need to share information, such as:
If we have a concern about possible abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult
If there is concern that you or someone else may be at immediate risk of harm
If there is a medical emergency during a run
If a court or legal process requires us to share certain information
Whenever possible, we will talk with you first if these situations arise.
