Overview
Women's health doesn't happen in a vacuum. It's shaped by the roles we carry, and for many women, caregiving is one of the biggest. Raising children, supporting aging parents, and holding a family together through hard seasons can quietly take a toll on our bodies, minds, and spirits. This summit is a space to talk honestly about women's health and how the expectations around caregiving affect it.
Join AACI and Santa Clara County Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga as we explore how social and cultural expectations shape women's health across generations and communities, and what we can do about it. Expect honest conversation, shared stories, and practical tools, not just presentations.
What we'll dig into:
- How stress, chronic disease risk, and burnout show up in women's health, and how caregiving roles contribute
- How expectations around caregiving differ across generations and cultures, and what they mean for our well-being
- Mental health and emotional wellness, including how community health workers can be trained to talk about mental health with the people they serve
- Self-care and coping strategies that fit into real, busy lives
- Real stories from women on maternal health, childcare, and putting their own health on the back burner
- What our community wants to see prioritized in women's health
This summit is for:
- Women who want to take care of their own health while showing up for others
- Caregivers of any kind, whether you're raising kids, supporting family members, or both
- Community health workers and advocates
- Anyone with a story to share about health and caregiving
- Organizations and professionals who want to better support women's health in our community
