Cora is a strong, creative, and resilient 15 year-old who has battled brain tumors and epilepsy the last 10 years. Despite medications, she continues to experience tonic cluster and focal seizures that can cause injuries and impact her daily life and independence.
After nagivating the challenges of epilepsy, Cora has recently been matched with service dog, Cheyenne, who is currently waiting her turn for service dog training. Cheyenne will help provide support and safety. But obtaining and training a service dog comes with significant expenses, and we are looking to our community for help.
A seizure response dog can help by:
- alerting others when Cora needs help
- providing comfort and grounding during seizures
- assisting with safety during episodes
- offer greater confidence and independence
- support emotional wellbeing and quality of life
Cora has been determined to help raise funds herself through handmade crocheted items that are available through sponsorships. She has also started sharing her medical and fundraising journey online through our Facebook group, “Stitches to Paws: Cora’s Journey”.
She isn’t just asking for help, she working alongside her family and community to make this a possibility.
