• Rivenwood Malinois Puppy Application

  • Psst...thanks for completing this application! At first glance, you might thing "sheesh, this is a little long - are all these questions really necessary?" I know, because I thought the same thing when we got our dogs! We hand-raise all of our puppies in our home and love them, and we hope you love your puppy, too.

Every puppy family has different needs, and this application helps us identify who needs what information and what homes might make the best fit. If you're a veteran malinois owner, we don't want to waste your time regaling things you already know; by the same token, if this is your first malinois, we want to make sure you leave prepared for what life with a puppy may bring. So again, thank you!

    • Puppy Preference
    • We understand this can be a very exciting time for our potential puppy buyers! I make puppy selections according to which puppy is the right fit for each individual home and their goals, not in order of who got on the waiting list first.

When it comes to preference of gender of your puppy, I take 4 spots on the wait list for each gender. Males are always in high demand, and your wait for a really nice competition dog will generally be shorter if you are open to adding a female to your home. If I happen to have more puppies born than the 8 spots I take reservations for, those additional puppies will be opened up to people with submitted applications before they are opened up to others.

I do not take deposits until puppies are actually born and we know how many are available for those on the wait list.

Final picks will be done at 7 weeks of age. I do not ship puppies in cargo, but puppies will be conditioned from an early age to Sherpa bags and we can help you nagivate the process of flying with your puppy in the cabin.

    • About Puppy's New Family
    • Please tell us a little about where puppy will live as a puppy (we know circumstances change).

    • What are your plans for your puppy?*
    • Working and Sport Goals

In this section, be as detailed as you can about your ideal puppy, your goals for them, how you like to train, and what you would like to accomplish. Please note that we will not sell dogs to homes that do FastCAT, and doing so with one of our puppies is a contract violation.
    • Ownership Commitment
    • This is where we want to make sure we are all on the same page, please contact us if you have any questions or concerns!

    • What to expect
    • Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from John & Erica Montoya, but it does not guarantee I'll get a puppy from this or any future litter. While it's unlikely, the breeder reserves the right to refuse any placement at any time.

If this application is approved, you'll be notified when the puppies are born and be required to send a $200 non-refundable deposit within 7 days in order to hold the puppy of your choice. Please note our deposit policy: if you make a deposit, you are committing to take a puppy from the litter, regardless of whether your gender/color preference is available. Should you elect to not take a puppy from the litter, the deposit is forfeited. We do the best to match preferences. Deposits are non-refundable.

From time to time we may decide to keep a puppy out of a litter. We reserve the right to hold puppies. This may mean that certain puppies may not be available for a couple weeks while we decide on if we may keep the said puppy or not.

Puppies will go to their new homes at 8 weeks. We cannot hold puppies for extended times; it is critical for their social development that the litter departs within a reasonable timeframe. Puppies must be picked up within 7 days unless other written arrangements are made.

We have a contract and will not place a puppy without a signed contract. We believe it's the professional thing to do to memorialize our obligations to each other on paper so there are no questions later, and for that reason it's a bit lengthy. If you have questions about specific terms, you need to contact us prior to picking up your puppy.

If you purchase "Limited Registration" we require spay/neuter at or before 24 months. Proof of the procedure from your vet is required before we will release the said dog's registration papers.

*We do not allow any puppy to leave our property prior to 8 weeks of age, NO EXCEPTIONS*
