The International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS) invites nominations for its two main awards, to be conferred at the 2027 General Assembly in Fukuoka, Japan. The General Assembly will take place in conjunction with the 11th AFLAS Congress, the 74th JALAS Annual Meeting, and the 61st JAEAT Annual Meeting, from May 24–28, 2027.

These awards recognize individuals whose careers have advanced the quality, science, and ethics of laboratory animal use worldwide. Nomination deadline: November 15, 2026

• ICLAS Mühlbock-Nomura Award: ICLAS’s oldest and most prestigious award recognizes individuals whose body of work has supported the use of high-quality, genetically and microbiologically defined laboratory animals in research. Presented at every General Assembly since 1988, it honors Professor O.F.E. Mühlbock and Dr. Tatsuji Nomura.

• Bennett Cohen Award: Recognizes individuals who have achieved prominence in promoting and advancing the Three Rs — Reduction, Refinement, and Replacement — in the use of laboratory animals for research, teaching, and testing.
