    We call on state music education associations to consider endorsing Marching into Juneteenth–Marching into Freedom™ (MIJ-MIF™ 2027) as a prestigious, audition-selected statewide honor-band experience with an All-State distinction. We support rigorous, equitable auditions; instrumentation and ensemble sizes appropriate to each state's established honor-ensemble practices; and an intentional one-week marching band camp that brings students of all races and backgrounds together through music, mentorship, and the significance of Juneteenth. MiMa has expanded its MIJ-MIF™ 2027 outreach to State Music Education Associations, State Bandmasters Associations, and school systems across the nation, inviting review, dialogue, and consideration of an audition-based statewide student Ambassador ensemble. This is outreach and consideration only, and does not imply endorsements, approvals, confirmed partnerships, or that every state or district has received it. This nationwide initiative, alongside MiMa's worldwide vision, should celebrate freedom, strengthen cultural understanding, and encourage continued progress toward equality. We ask each association to review the proposal, invite educator and community input, and consider a pathway to endorsement.
