West Seattle Amateur Radio Club (W7AW.org) is a WA nonprofit serving the Greater Seattle Metro Area. The Club offers online classes to prepare for testing to receive an Amateur Radio Service license from FCC.
TECHNICIAN Class & Exam

Please fill out the information below to register. Note that a Technician (level 1) class will be followed a General (level 2) class in Jan/Feb 2027. One must pass the Technician level exam prior to taking the General level exam. If you want to take both classes please sign up for both, using two registration forms.

When:

Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026 through Sunday, Dec. 13, 2026. Watch lectures online at your convenience in the comfort of your home with Q&A sessions every 2 days via Zoom. The optional license exam will occur Sunday, Dec. 13, 2026

Where: Online class, via YouTube videos and Zoom review sessions. Optional license exam will be at West Seattle Public Library High Point Branch, 3411 S.W. Raymond St., Seattle, WA 98126 206-684-7454.

Costs: No fee for class. Optional licensing exam: $15 fee to ARRL for processing and $35 fee for the license, paid to the FCC. For children 18 and under a $5 overall fee (exam plus license) is offered.

Book: ARRL License Manual, level 1 (Technician), 6th edition (2026 – 2030). Also available on Kindle.

HamStudy.org is an excellent source for free ham radio flash cards, practice tests, and question pools, and offer a $4 APP that works offline and has more features.

Class size: Minimum of 8 & maximum of 30.

If you register and can not attend, resubmit the form with CANCEL option so your space can be reserved by someone else.
