• ANGEL CARE VISIT

Gentle transportation for your pet after death
  • Arranging Your Angel Care Visit

  • Angel Care transportation visits must be arranged directly with our team.

If you have not already spoken with a member of our team, please contact us before completing this form to discuss timing and availability.

Submitting this form does not schedule a visit or request immediate transportation.

We understand that once a beloved pet has passed, families often want their care arranged as soon as possible. We will always do our best to reach you promptly. However, Greenwood is not an emergency or ambulance service, and our veterinarian may already be committed to caring for other families when you contact us.

To discuss availability and arrange your Angel Care visit, please contact our team directly:

When you request a Private cremation for your pet, it provides you with the opportunity to keep your pet’s cremated remains as a permanent and personal keepsake. Your pet’s cremated remains will be returned to your regular veterinary practice (typically in 1-2 weeks) in your selected urn, along with a certificate of cremation, authenticating that your pet was cremated at Gateway Pet Memorial. You may choose one of the five complementary urns that are provided at no additional fee, or choose from one of the many custom urns that can be ordered. Please take some time to review your options at www.gatewaypetmemorial.com. The complimentary urns are pictured below.

  • Preparing for Our Visit

  • After a pet dies, families are sometimes unsure what they should do while waiting for us to arrive. There is usually no need to rush. You may spend some quiet time with your pet, say goodbye in whatever way feels right for your family, and allow other family members or household pets an opportunity to visit if you wish.

    While you're waiting

    • Keep your pet somewhere cool and comfortable.
If possible, choose a cool area of your home, away from direct sunlight or other sources of warmth. If there will be a longer delay before transportation, our team can provide additional guidance.
    • Place something absorbent underneath them.
After death, the muscles of the body relax. Occasionally a small amount of urine, stool or other fluid may be released. Placing a towel, blanket or absorbent pad underneath your pet can help protect the surface beneath them.
    • Cover them if you wish.
You are welcome to tuck your pet into a favourite blanket or cover them gently with one. This isn't medically necessary—it's simply something many families find comforting.
    • You may gently clean or groom your pet.
Some families find comfort in brushing their pet, wiping their face or paws, or gently cleaning any urine or other discharge. None of this is required. Please do only what feels comfortable and meaningful to you.
    • Choose anything you would like them to travel with.
Your pet may travel with a favourite blanket, small toy, photograph, letter, flowers, or another small keepsake if you wish. Please let us know if there is anything you would like returned rather than cremated with them.

    When we arrive

    • Please ensure there is a parking space available as close to your home as possible so that we can transport your pet to our vehicle respectfully and discreetly.
    • Your pet will need to be carried from your home to our vehicle. For pets weighing more than 25 lb, we require an able-bodied family member to assist. If this will be difficult for your family, please let our team know when arranging your visit so we can discuss other options.
