Common’s exhibition hopes to explore the modern relevance of folk practices and folklore. This open call is for artwork exploring themes of modern myth making, urban legends, personal interpretations of folk characters and folktales, celebration of folk, criticisms of folk, folklore of the future, the politics of folk practice, imagined folk, connection to the local area and the reimagining of folk traditions. We encourage applicants to explore folk that connects to their heritage if they wish to.
