BEFORE YOU MAY DISCUSS YOUR CONTRACT WITH AN ATTORNEY, YOU MUST REVIEW THE BELOW NOTICE, "IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CLIENTS," AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO THE TERMS BY TYPING YOUR FULL NAME BELOW.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CLIENTS
The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center ("Pro Bono Center") is sponsoring the Free Contracts Legal Clinic for Small Businesses & Nonprofits (“Contracts Clinic”). It is an opportunity for nonprofits and small businesses to speak one-on-one with an attorney who will review and discuss a contract with you.
All services at the Contracts Clinic are provided free of charge.
The Contracts Clinic is limited to giving brief general information or advice that must be viewed as preliminary and will not provide you with a lawyer to represent you in pursuing your legal situation. The lawyer will not conduct legal or factual research about your legal situation, nor will the lawyer monitor your legal situation or inform you of any changes in the law that might affect your organization.
If brief service is not enough to resolve your issues or if you require a different type of service than the Contracts Clinic offers, we may be able to refer you to or provide you with information about another resource appropriately suited to handle your matter. However, the Contracts Clinic does not guarantee that you will obtain assistance or legal representation through any of the suggested resources.
It is the policy of the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center not to share an organization's information without the organization's permission. The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center will not share copies of any documents you submit for review through the Contracts Clinic with any parties aside from the volunteer lawyer(s) assigned to provide you with brief advice services.
If you give the Pro Bono Center any legal documents, please make sure they are copies and not originals. By submitting any document(s) for review at the Contracts Clinic, you must ensure that you have authorization to share such document(s) with the Pro Bono Center and with your assigned volunteer attorney.
If you do not fully understand this Notice, you should inform a Pro Bono Center staff person at NPSB@dcbar.org and ask for assistance.
