Call for Presentations & Posters
Please complete this form to submit a presentation or poster for consideration at the AADMD One Voice Conference, June 10–12, 2027, in Washington, DC.
As we celebrate 25 years of advancing healthcare for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), AADMD's 2027 One Voice Conference brings us together under the theme:
United We Advocate
25 Years of Changing IDD Care, and What's Possible
Over the past 25 years, our community has worked to break down barriers, strengthen healthcare education, improve clinical practices, and amplify the voices of individuals with IDD. As we gather near our nation's capital, we will reflect on how far we've come while looking toward the opportunities and challenges ahead.
Together, we'll explore how advocacy, education, technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration can drive meaningful change and improve healthcare for people with IDD.
We invite healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, students, residents, self-advocates, families, caregivers, and community partners to share their expertise, research, experiences, and innovative approaches through our four conference tracks.
Conference Tracks
Advocacy & Policy
This track emphasizes the vital role advocacy plays in improving the lives and health outcomes of people with IDD. Sessions will highlight strategies for systems change, policy development, healthcare access, disability rights, and self-advocacy that amplify voices and drive progress.
Proposals may explore legislative initiatives, healthcare equity, community engagement, interdisciplinary advocacy, and strategies for translating policy into meaningful improvements in care.
Educational Innovations
This track showcases innovative approaches to developing and strengthening healthcare education and training that centers people with IDD.
Proposals may include work by educators, healthcare professionals, students, trainees, and individuals with lived experience that expands training opportunities, strengthens curricula, builds interprofessional collaboration, and reimagines how IDD-focused education can shape the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Emerging Technology & AI
This track explores how emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and innovative tools can transform healthcare access, delivery, communication, and outcomes for people with IDD.
Proposals might highlight assistive technologies, digital health solutions, clinical applications, accessibility tools, research, and strategies that integrate technology into patient-centered care while addressing practical, ethical, and implementation challenges.
Best Practices & Team-Based Care
This track provides opportunities to build and refine skills in delivering high-quality, coordinated, person-centered healthcare for people with IDD.
Proposals may share evidence-based practices, clinical innovations, behavioral health strategies, interdisciplinary care models, and promising research that enhance patient care while equipping providers and care teams with practical approaches to better serve diverse populations.
Across all four tracks, we particularly encourage proposals that elevate self-advocate voices, incorporate lived experience, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and offer practical solutions to improve IDD healthcare.
Submissions addressing other topics relevant to AADMD's mission are also welcome.
Presentation Formats
Breakout Sessions
Across all four tracks, breakout sessions are 30 minutes in length.
Suggested number of speakers: 1–2.
Breakouts should focus on sharing research, clinical practices, educational approaches, advocacy strategies, innovations, or other relevant work that provides meaningful learning opportunities for attendees.
Panel Sessions
Across all four tracks, panel sessions are 1 hour in length.
Suggested number of speakers: 3–5.
Panels should bring together diverse perspectives to explore an important issue, challenge, or opportunity related to IDD healthcare. Interdisciplinary panels and those incorporating self-advocates, individuals with lived experience, families, or caregivers are especially encouraged.
Poster Presentations
Poster presentations provide an opportunity to share research, clinical experiences, innovative approaches, and other work relevant to improving healthcare for individuals with IDD.
All accepted posters will be displayed together in a large room during our interactive Poster Reception. Rather than delivering a formal presentation to a seated audience, presenters will stand near their posters while attendees, fellow presenters, and poster judges circulate throughout the room.
Presenters should be prepared to give a brief, 3–5-minute overview of their work, answer questions, and engage in informal discussions as individuals or small groups stop by. The reception is designed to be conversational and flexible, allowing visitors to explore posters at their own pace. Not every interaction will require a full presentation, and presenters may share their work multiple times throughout the reception.
Awards are given to the top three poster winners.
Poster Requirements:
- Poster dimensions must be 3 feet by 5 feet (36" × 60") exactly.
- If selected, you must bring a printed version of your poster to the conference.
- A digital copy of your poster will also be requested for AADMD's records and conference app.
