• SIGN: IN SOLIDARITY WITH OUR PEERS AT BIRZEIT UNIVERSITY

Birzeit University is a university of fighters, of martyrs, of prisoners, and of dedicated and passionate students. The destruction and theft of the Martyrs' Memorial, carried out by the occupation at dawn on October 4, forms part of its policy of scholasticide seen through its destruction of 90% of schools and universities in Gaza, assassinations of Palestinian teachers, and imprisonment of Palestinian students of all grade levels. The day before the new academic year began, occupation forces stormed Birzeit's campus with approximately 10 military vehicles and a bulldozer. They vandalized the physics and biology laboratories and ransacked student movement offices. Also on October 4, occupation forces arrested Birzeit student Majd Abu Ajamieh. Ten days earlier, occupation forces had invaded Birzeit campis and taken photos of the Martyrs' Memorial, demonstrating that this was a pre-planned attack. Since 2004, the occupation has invaded Birzeit University 28 times and there are currently over 120 Birzeit students detained in zionist prisons. On October 5, Birzeit students recreated the Martyrs' Memorial with a whiteboard and raised Palestinian flags at the site. Despite the occupation's continued targeting of the collective memory and will to resist among youth and university students across Palestine, they remain an active and core part of the national liberation struggle. As students from universities around the world, we remain proud of and honored by the determination and steadfastness of the students at Birzeit. We stand alongside our peers at Birzeit and condemn in the strongest terms the continued raids, intimidation, and attacks on all fronts against student life. @free.palstudents
