2. Acknowledgment of Risks & Inherent Dangers of Equine Activities
Under North Carolina General Statutes §99E-1 through §99E-9, participants in equine activities understand that there are inherent risks associated with handling, working around, and riding horses, including but not limited to:
- The unpredictability of an equine's reaction to sound, movement, objects, or unfamiliar persons.
- The possibility of sudden movement, bucking, rearing, biting, kicking, or running by the equine.
- The potential for falls, collisions, or other injuries caused by interaction with equines or environmental factors.
By signing this agreement, I acknowledge and assume all risks associated with equine activities and participation in Missed Path Sanctuary workshops.
3. Release of Liability & Indemnification
I, the undersigned participant (or parent/legal guardian of a minor participant), hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless Missed Path Sanctuary, its owners, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, contractors, and affiliates from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action that may arise from participation in any equine or non-equine activities offered.

I further agree to indemnify and defend Missed Path Sanctuary against any claims, damages, injuries, or losses arising out of my participation, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.
4. Participant Responsibility & Safety Requirements
I understand that my safety largely depends on following all instructions, maintaining awareness, and using appropriate safety gear.

I agree to the following:
- Helmet Use for Riding Activities: While most activities at Missed Path Sanctuary focus on groundwork, I acknowledge that helmets are an important safety measure when riding. If I choose to ride, I understand that wearing a properly fitted ASTM/SEI-certified riding helmet is strongly recommended for my protection.
- Proper Attire: I will wear closed-toe shoes or boots and clothing appropriate for equine and outdoor activities.

- Medical Conditions: I confirm that I am physically able to participate and will disclose any relevant medical conditions that could affect my safety.
- Pregnancy Clause: I understand that pregnant individuals must obtain written medical clearance before engaging in any equine activities.
6. Media Release
Photos and videos help us share the special moments at The Missed Path Sanctuary and introduce our work to people who may benefit from our programs. We’ll always aim to use them thoughtfully and respectfully, with participants’ comfort and privacy in mind.

Our activities often involve groups, so we can’t reliably exclude individual participants from photos or videos. By signing this waiver, you give The Missed Path Sanctuary permission to use your image, voice or likeness in photographs, videos or promotional materials for educational, marketing or social media purposes.
