Position Overview
The Certified Texas Bred Registry, a program of the Texas Pork Producers Association, is seeking motivated and creative Media Intern(s) to assist with communications and media coverage during the 2027 Texas’ Elite Showcase. This position provides hands-on experience covering a major livestock event while developing skills in photography, videography, social media, storytelling, and agricultural communications.
The Media Intern will work closely with the Director of Communications, Programming, and Operations to capture the people, stories, and moments that make the Texas’ Elite Showcase special.
Position Details
The Media Intern should be prepared to work long and varied hours throughout the Texas’ Elite Showcase, including move-in and show days. The position requires being present on-site and available to capture content as events unfold.
This is a hands-on opportunity to experience agricultural event communications from start to finish, while building a portfolio of professional work in the livestock and agricultural communications industry.
- Create engaging social media content for Texas Pork media platforms.
Assist with real-time coverage of show results, highlights, announcements and special moments.
- Conduct short interviews with exhibitors, breeders, and families for social media and digital content.
- Capture content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook and other digital platforms.
- Assist with developing short-form videos, graphics and other visual content.
- Organize and label photos and video files for future use.
- Assist with gathering information and content for post-event stories, recaps and promotional materials.
- Help identify compelling stories and moments throughout the event.
- Perform other communications and media-related duties as needed during the showcase.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a current college student studying agricultural communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, photography, videography or a related field.
Candidates should:
- Have an interest in agriculture, livestock and/or the pork industry.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced livestock show environment.
- Have experience or a strong interest in writing, photography, videography, and social media.
- Be comfortable approaching people and conducting informal interviews.
- Have strong communication and organizational skills.
- Be creative, dependable and willing to take initiative.
- Be able to work independently while also taking direction from the communications leadership.
- Have access to a smartphone capable of capturing quality photo and video content.
- Previous experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, CapCut or other photo/video editing software is a plus.
Compensation
This internship is unpaid; however, you will gain incredible hands-on experience covering livestock events, storytelling and interview skills, as well as portfolio-ready content to add to your portfolio.
Texas Pork will cover your hotel room and meals while at the event, as well as a stipend to cover gas expenses.
