About PSF Sentinel
PSF Sentinel is an upcoming, student-initiated organization aimed at creating and developing an industry-accurate corporate finance (CB&IB, PE, Credit, Financing, Solutions, Advisory) and investment management experience for students who are passionate about the field and wish to contribute to something themselves.
The project initially started in its alpha phase as an IB&CM research initiative, developing into a Private Equity deal simulation pipeline, and now stopping to anchor at simulating the exact workflows that universal banks like J.P. Morgan, BNP Paribas, and Bank of America (and many others) actually employ.
Recently, Sentinel and the Plutus Student Fund combined to form PSF Sentinel. The combination brings together Plutus’s established student investment fund experience and Sentinel’s corporate and investment banking specialization on a single platform. Members gain exposure to both sides of the market: advising and financing companies, and investing in them. Under the new structure, Plutus’s asset management activities are being rebuilt around professional portfolio management processes. Sentinel’s transaction and credit research functions now sit alongside the fund, so each part of the organisation informs the work of the others. Candidates applying through this general application will be considered across the full platform and placed in the area best suited to their profile and interests.
We review applications and recruit on a rolling basis. Our hiring team evaluates submissions as they arrive, to the best of their abilities, rather than waiting for a specific deadline.
We are currently offering placements into a number of our tracks:
- Plutus Asset Management - Analyst: Learn how to manage a fund, and how to choose the right investments.
- Plutus Asset Management - Portfolio Manager: Take direct responsibility for building and managing a portfolio.
- Sentinel Deal Desk - Analyst: Research the most relevant deals, gaining insight into the logic behind every deal.
- Credit Research & Rating - Founding Analyst: Build the organization's credit methodology and shape the rating programme; lead your own team as the track expands.
- Corporate & Investment Banking - Analyst: Work like a real Investment Bank; learn the rationale behind how deals are actually originated, structured and executed.
What we Stand for
At Sentinel, we look forward to being uniquely differentiated from the larger cohort of finance organizations at the University of Amsterdam both through our design, our work, and our culture.
- One team. We strive to feel like one group rather than a set of separate teams. Analysts work across coverage sectors and industries, get to know every member, and are as welcome at a model review as at dinner afterwards. The people you meet here should be people you stay in touch with long after the programme ends.
- Distinct by design. There are many finance associations at our university that make you do things you can learn on your own and we don't want to be them. Instead of equity pitches, fake case competitions and guest lectures, we offer a year spent doing the work: coverage, origination and execution, on companies that exist and situations that are live. If you want a broad introduction to finance, other organisations do that well. We're here for you if you wish to know what a year in a bank's shoes feels like.
- Excellence and pride in the work. We care about getting it right. That means a model that ties out, an analysis that leads with the conclusion, and a deck that you'd be comfortable putting your name on. We don't expect you to arrive knowing how to do this. We do expect you to care about doing it well.
- Everyone builds Sentinel. The programme is young, and it gets better because the people in it make it better. Every analyst is expected to leave something behind, whether that's a sharper case study, a better template, a new sector, or an improvement nobody has thought of yet. You're joining an organisation that you'll help shape, not just attend and put it on your CV.
Meeting our requirements does not guarantee a place in the programme. Due to resource constraints, a qualified candidate may not receive an offer if (i) the number of qualified candidates exceeds the places available; (ii) too few qualified candidates remain to form an additional team; (iii) there are less qualified candidates than the minimum determined for a track to be functional. Where possible, qualified candidates who are not placed will be considered for their second-choice track or, if they have opted in, added to our talent pool for future cycles.
What we're looking for
We do not expect prior internship or modelling experience from you, even being pasisonate enough about the initiative is sufficient. We think you will be a great fit if:

- Demonstrated ownership and initiative, including a track record of seeing difficult work through to completion
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the confidence to take a clear view and defend it
- Capacity to learn new concepts quickly and apply them independently
- Commitment to excellence and attention to detail, with pride in the quality of your output
- Collaborative approach, building rapport and relationships across teams
- Unquestioned commitment to integrity and professional conduct
- Genuine interest in contributing to the development of PSF Sentinel and its programme beyond your own work
