Rifle & Pistol Range Rules

The following safety rules have been established to ensure the health and safety of those individuals who use or frequent this facility and the community at large.

All persons at the ranges must comply with all safety rules. Failure to follow the rules as stated will result in disciplinary action and may result in loss of membership. All persons using therange are liable for improper use of the range and firearms.

1. General Rules

a) Use of the range is during daylight hours only and must be after 9 AM. The range will be closed on Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, and during other prescheduled events.

b) Each person is responsible for the complete removal of their live and dud ammunition from the range facility upon completion of range use. All empty casings shall be discarded in the empty shell casing can or taken home.

c) No alcohol or drugs are permitted on the ranges. No shooting under the influence of alcohol ordrugs. No misuse of prescription drugs. Prescription drugs that have cautions for driving a motorized vehicle should apply as a caution against using the range.

d) No shooting at animals, birds, or other wildlife.

e) You must sign a copy of these rules the first time you use this range each calendar year.

f) Safety equipment must be appropriately worn when you come to the range. This includes safety glasses and adequate ear protection.

g) All accidents that involve people and property must be reported as noted in a separate bulletin that is specific to accidents.

2. Firearm Safety Rules

a) All gun safety rules as recognized by the NRA and National Shooting Sports Foundation must be followed. The rules as stated in this document do not override the rules of these organizations but are meant to expand and highlight these rules for the club members.

b) You must follow the 5 second rule between shots.a. Automatic action and “Bump Firing” are strictly prohibited.

c) Exploding targets, tracer and incendiary ammunition is strictly prohibited.

d) Your finger should be off the trigger until you are on the firing line, your firearm is pointed at your target, and you are ready to shoot.

e) Muzzles should always point down range. When you are packing up to leave and you’ve unloaded your firearm, the muzzle should be controlled and pointed in a safe direction – UP!

f) No handling loaded firearms behind the yellow safety line.

g) All actions must be open while behind the yellow safety line.

h) Magazines can be preloaded at the Yellow safety line but cannot be inserted into the gun.

i) Weapons can be put into Battery (the slide or bolt is fully closed and ready to fire) only at the Firing line.

j) Firearms may only be fired forward of the red safety line (if line is at 50 yards).

k) Use precaution with new firearms or firearms that may be challenging. Do not allow relatives, friends, minors, or guests to use firearms that may prove difficult to handle. You are responsible to understand the operation of the firearm that you are using and responsible for reading the safety information for your firearm, using a firearm at the range makes you liable for damage to property or injury. If you cannot control your firearm, you should not beshooting it.

3. Firearm Rules

a) Shotguns are not permitted on this range. Shotguns may be used at Skeet Shooting area.

4. MINORS

a) You must actively supervise minors (under 18) while they are handling/shooting any firearm. If the minor is shooting, you are not. You are to be supervising!

b) You must actively supervise minors who are not handling/shooting firearms at any location.While at the range locations (and immediate surrounding area) there will be no running, climbing on tables or shooting stands, etc. No minors are to be down range without beinga ccompanied by an adult.

5. Target Rules

a) Paper targets are the ONLY allowed targets on our ranges. NO OTHER TYPES OF TARGETS ARE PERMITTED ON THE RANGES.

b) Paper targets can only be mounted to the target boards. No paper targets are allowed to be posted to any other structure, or to the frame of target stands.

c) Target placement is critical, and all members are responsible to fully understand the correct location and height for targets on the range.

d) Your shooting position must be directly in front of your target. Shooting across lane is strictly prohibited.

6. Cease Fire and Target Check

a) No handling of firearms at the firing line during a cease fire or when people are down range to change/check targets.

b) Open all actions, lay the firearm down on the table, and step away. Action/chamber open & safety on.

c) A “cease fire” is a direct command. If a cease fire is called, all participants are to put down any firearms currently in hand, action open, and to take a step back away from them.

d) Any person can call a cease fire at any time an unsafe condition is observed. All participants must honor this by putting their firearms down with the chamber open and the safety on.

e) A cease fire ends when either the cause for the cease fire has been cleared, or when all participants on the range signal that they are ready to resume shooting.

I hereby acknowledge that I have voluntarily applied to enter on to, and to engage in, or to observe shooting and other activities at White Mountain Camps. I further acknowledge and understand that "shooting and other activities" includes any and all activities of any kind whatsoever in which I engage or observe while at said range, whether or not sponsored by White Mountain Camps. I acknowledge and understand that shooting activities are dangerous and involve both known and unanticipated risks which could result in damage or destruction of property and physical or emotional injury, including paralysis or death, of myself or of other persons. The risks include but are not limited to: being shot by or shooting myself or others; partial or total loss of eyesight or hearing; inhalation or other harmful contact with lead or other contaminants; and being struck by flying or falling objects. I understand that such risks cannot be eliminated without compromising the essential qualities of shooting activities.I also acknowledge and understand that the nature and condition of the range facilities, premises, and environment is such that both known and unanticipated hazards exist which create or contribute to both known and unanticipated risks inherent in entering on to the range, and using range facilities, and engaging in or observing any activities of any kind whatsoever while at the range. The hazards include, but are not limited to: slipping, falling, inhalation of contaminants, contact with hot brass, lead, and other metals, falling shooting trays, and falling shooting stalls. I understand that such hazards and risks cannot be eliminated without compromising the essential qualities of the range facilities, equipment, premises and environment.As lawful consideration for being permitted by White Mountain Camps to enter on to the range, to use range facilities or equipment and to engage in or observe shooting and other activities at the range, as either a NEFE Member or a White Mountain Camps Guest, I agree to the following:I AGREE TO ACCEPT AND ASSUME ANY AND ALL RISK EXISTING ON THE RANGE AND IN ENTERING ONTO THE RANGE AND IN USING RANGE FACILITIES OR EQUIPMENT AND ENGAGING IN OR OBSERVING SHOOTING AND OTHER ACTIVITIES AT THE RANGE FOR MYSELF AND MY GUESTS.I agree that I, my next of kin, heirs, guardians, representatives, and assigns here by release and forever discharge and agree not to sue White Mountain Camps. I understand that White Mountain Camps includes any and all officers, directors, attorneys, agents, employees, contractors, volunteers, guests and affiliate individuals or organizations of White Mountain Camps from and against any and all claims, demands, damages, expenses, causes of action, attachments of property damage, or personal injury or death resulting from me or my Guests entering on to the range, using range facilities or equipment, or engaging in or observing shooting and other activities at the range, even if such claims, demands, damages, expenses, causes of action, attachments of property, or liability result partially or wholly from any act or acts, even any negligent act or omission to act, including negligent or omitted first-aid or rescue operations or procedures, by White Mountain Camps.I acknowledge and agree that this Agreement shall be interpreted and enforced under the laws of the State of New Hampshire, and the venue for any action or proceeding shall be the State of New Hampshire, without regard for the conflict of law rules of the State of New Hampshire. I further acknowledge and agree that this Agreement is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by law, and that if any provision or portion is held to be invalid, void or otherwise unenforceable, I agree and intend that the remaining provisions our portion shall continue and remain in full legal force and effect.I further acknowledge and agree that it is my understanding and intent that this Agreement, and any signed written amendments or modifications to it, shall remain in full force and effect from the date of execution and ever after and shall be applicable to each and every occasion that I or my Guests enter on to the range, use range facilities or equipment or engage in or observe shooting or other activities at the range.I further acknowledge and agree that I am not under indictment in any court for a felony, or any other crime or which the judge could have sentenced me for more than a year in jail or prison, nor have I been convicted for a felony, nor a fugitive from justice. I am not using illegal drugs or other control substances, nor have I been adjudicated mentally defective or have been committed to a mental institution. Further I have not been discharged from the arm forces under dishonorable conditions, not subject to a court order restraining me from harassing, stalking or threatening my child, or an intimate partner. I have not been convicted of domestic violence nor been denied while attempting to purchase a firearm. Also, I know of no reason that I cannot legally possess a firearm under state or federal law. Further, I understand that if any of these conditions change in the future, it is my responsibility to notify the staff of White Mountain Camps.
I have carefully read this "Acknowledgment of Risk, Release and Indemnity Agreement "and fully know its contents. I acknowledge that no other inducement, assurance or guarantee has been made to me in consideration of my signing this Agreement, which I signed voluntarily and of my own free will. I further acknowledge and agree that this Agreement may be amended or modified only by a writing signed by me and by an authorized agent of White Mountain Camps.

If I caused any damage to White Mountain Camps property, whether accidental, negligent, and willful or otherwise, I may be removed from the range and/or facility. The individual responsible for the damage may be civilly liable or criminally prosecuted. White Mountain Camps reserves the right to charge me with the costs of such damage. Should court action be required to collect damages, I will also be liable for White Mountain Camps attorney's fees.

I EXPRESSLY WARRANT THAT I HAVE READ EVERY WORD OF THIS AGREEMENT AND THAT I HAVE ENTERED INTO THE AGREEMENT OF MY OWN DESIRE. I UNDERSTAND THAT BY MY SIGNATURE I AM GIVING UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS, THAT I AM AGREEING NOT TO SUE White Mountain Camps AND RELEASING AND HOLDING HARMLESS White Mountain Camps OF ALL LIABILITY FOR ACTS AND OMISSIONS COVERED BY THIS AGREEMENT.
